Mitten Craft Preschool – Winter is the perfect season for crafts! Kids of all ages—especially toddlers and preschoolers—will enjoy using our free printable mutton patterns, washable paint, and basic craft supplies like sequins, stickers, and paper punches to make Make colorful and fun crafts at home or at school.

If the grain of wool warms our hands, the grain of paper surely warms our hearts! Pairs of colorful spots made by children look great on bulletin boards, at home or in the classroom. Pair this fun winter craft with:

1. Download and then print the free PDF Winter Mitten Template on white card stock. You need 1 copy per child.

2. Invite your child to paint their teeth. Choose a cool winter color scheme or invite your child to choose their own colors. We also made this craft for Christmas and painted the spots bright red and green!

Alternatively, children can color in the template with crayons, markers or colored pencils. It can also be used as a pattern to trace onto brightly colored paper, felt or craft foam.

3. When the paint is dry, cut out the teeth, then invite your child to decorate with glitter, glitter, foam stickers or paper cutouts.

5. If desired, tape each pair to a piece of construction paper to display on a bulletin board or wall.

If you work in a school, you know that the lost box is always full of dirty leaves! Use this small template to create a unique lost and found themed bulletin board.

3. While hanging the mittens on the bulletin board, create a maze of mittens by hanging each pair separately and letting the yarn strips overlap, cross and loop over the bulletin board. Title the bulletin board, “Can you match our missing mittens?”

Kids will enjoy starting with one piece and then moving their yarn strands around the bulletin board to find a match for their pair.
