This design works from the bottom up and recommends using 2-3 colors. The yarn in the pattern is marked as “color A”, “color B” and “color C”. Color A refers to the color used for double crochet rounds. This color will be the main color for your hat. Color B refers to the color used for single crochet rounds. Color C, which is optional, refers to the color used for the band and pom pom.

The whole hat part of this pattern is made with back loops only. This creates a smooth texture throughout the hat. Note that for this pattern only, you will always work in back loops.

Below you will find sizing information for each hat. Note that the round can be stretched 1-2 inches when necessary.

Round 1: Color A: Ch 47 (counts as a stitch). DC in the fourth chain from the hook and in each chain (45 sts). After hooking in each chain, join the end to the 3rd chain with slst to form a ring. Connect it. Using a knitting needle, thread the first tail (from your slip stitch) and close the bottom of the circle with the first row (from your ch 3) at the bottom of the last DC stitch.
