A signature screen in the middle of the room, a starry ceiling for a wedding venue, a designer shop window display, a single Christmas star… our spectacular lanterns add a festive feel to any event.
They meet UK standards. Use them as displays with light bulbs and LEDs above a regular light fixture, or display them in a window with string lights and bulbs.
For instant decoration, insert battery-operated fairy lights and watch the light shine through the light holes. And for a party to remember, tie your star lantern to long string lights and watch your party light up.
Our star lights are handcrafted from sustainable materials. And since they’re reusable, you can easily store them away, ready for your next party.

Decide if you want to cut the vellum layer. The vellum will diffuse the light that gives your paper star lantern a nice glow and hide the light inside, but the effect of the starlight and snow thrown on the walls will not be as pronounced as with the vellum included. You decide which one you like best: the vellum layer is optional for both paper star lanterns. If you decide not to use vellum, hide or delete this layer (white triangle).

When you’re ready, click “Do It” – no scoring, camping or attachment required for this project.
I recommend that you cut this project out of 100lb or 110lb cardstock or cardstock as indicated in the materials list above. This hanging paper star lantern needs to be strong enough to support itself, and this material works best. For material layout, use the ‘glossy cardstock’ layout as it will give you two passes and clean cuts.
A. Pre-bend each dash corner of each of the five paper lantern strips, including the long side tab.
B. Fold the bottom of the two tabs in the opposite direction to how you folded them in step A. Make sure you fold all five pieces the same way.

C. If you are including a layer of vellum, spray the inside of each of the five star lantern strips of paper with permanent spray adhesive. Then place the vellum over the parts of each starlight piece. Allow to dry completely before proceeding.
D. Identify the star and crescent tip piece missing from its tip and set it aside for now.
E. With the other four pieces, place glue along the long side tab, glue the tab inside the other side to create a point. Make sure the pieces are placed evenly. Repeat for all four pieces. This will give you four star points.
F. Apply glue to one side of the bottom star dot tab and glue the star dot to the other side of the light adjustment tab, working until all four attached stars are stuck.

G. Take the piece you set aside earlier and attach the short tabs to the main star assembly; you will need to reach inside to press the layers together as the glue sets.
H. If you want to light your paper star lantern, now put the light inside with the string coming from the end of the loose end. Carefully glue the long tab to close your paper star lantern. The last piece is a bit tricky, so time and care must be taken when assembling. Go slow and be patient with yourself.
