You don’t need to create a background for this project. You can use fabric flowers in a variety of crafts, such as:

Most of these materials can be found at Dollar Tree or any craft store near you.

Start by cutting your sheets of tissue paper to the desired size. The width of the paper should be at least half the length of the spread. Use a few petals – more for a fuller flower (5-10 pieces) or less for a more delicate flower (4-5 pieces).

Accordion Fold the paper in large or small folds until you reach the end of the paper. The larger your pleats, the larger the petals and the less full the flower may appear.

Once you have finished folding the accordion pleat, tie a piece of twine, twine, or twist tie to the center of the flower. Pin it at the back.

Create petals by rounding both ends of the crease with scissors. Or you can cut a triangular point pattern for a pointed flower. Use heavy scissors if you are cutting multiple pieces at once. If you want, you can pre-cut the frayed edges with the paper before your pleats match.

Unfold the pleats and start pulling out each pleat. Next, send the outermost fold to the center and carefully pull out each layer from there. Then pull a fold on one side, then alternately on the other side and continue until the last fold. Keep the end pleats to fit the surface.

If you prefer to have completely rounded flowers, simply use more tissue paper in longer pieces and pull both sides toward the center, turning the center toward the crease that is your center. Or follow the method above and tie the two halves of the paper flower with string or ribbon.
