Young Justice Red Arrow Costume – When I was at the Shelby Comic Con in Shelby, NC this past weekend I saw a vendor selling some cool DC stuff. I bought three items, one of which is the subject of today’s review: Red Arrow from Mattel’s 6-inch Young Justice line. I know Young Justice is gearing up for a comeback but I have to admit (with shame) that I haven’t seen it yet. That doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of most of the characters, though, especially Red Arrow. Red Arrow, AKA Arsenal, AKA Speedy, AKA Roy Harper has definitely become one of my favorite superheroes in the past few years thanks to his major roles in the New 52’s Red Hood and the Outlaws and the Rebirth Book Titans. While he often goes to Arsenal (now Emiko Rani, Ollie’s sister, uses the name Red Arrow), this figure is still a good representation of Roy Harper. We’ll see about it after the break…
Articulation: Hinged Ankles, Hinged Knees, Swivel Thighs, H-Hinged Hips, Swivel Waist, Mid-Torso Shoulder, Swivel/Coasted Shoulder, Swivel Biceps, Hinged Elbow, Swivel Wrist.
Young Justice Red Arrow Costume
* While Red Arrow uses some of the DC Universe Classics body, the reuse is minimal. He has many new features and a very different paint job that will definitely help him stand out from the crowd. When you look at Roy, you’d never think he was just a simple repaint with a new head. He’s very thin on the animation style design but I still think he’ll fit in well with the rest of your DC Universe Classics/ DC Comics Multiverse collection. The red and black color scheme is also nice; It would be nice to see him team up with the Red Hood, Batwoman, and New 52 Robin as part of the red and black team deal.
Superheroes Or Whatever — The Arrow Family In Young Justice: Phantoms S4e4
* Red Arrow has the same articulation as other Mattel DC figures from DC’s superhero days. Incidentally, he also has curved/hinged wrists, which not all current Multiverse figures have. He is very strong and can strike many poses as well.
* This may not be the perfect archery pose but Roy can still pull off a convincing archery pose due to his expression, his hand position (possibly holding an arrow), and the length of the arrows that is involved. . The fact that the arrows clip onto the edge of the bow also helps sell the effect, making the Red Arrow seem like a powerful archer for your shelf.
* The headsculpt is pretty simple and stylized, but it works for the Young Justice line. While the style is simple it’s definitely not over-styled, so you should pair him with other DC lines without him sticking out too much. I love the short hairstyle and the simple domino mask. This is a simple yet classic look for Roy.
* Red Arrow has several tactical pouches strapped to his thighs. This is a separate piece and although it is not removable it certainly gives the figure a more complex look. It also doesn’t affect his expression as much as you might think.
Young Justice:
* Roy has a wave of arrows on his back. They may look short but they look great and help ensure the Red Arrow is always ready to launch the next arrow. It cannot be removed from the arrow, nor can the arrow be removed from Roy’s back.
* The Red Arrow consists of four red arrows: one that looks like a standard hunting style bow with a broad tip, one that looks like a tipped arrow with a sound or maybe a gas dispenser , one with a large club at the end (maybe it exploded?), and one with two large blades at the end. Each arrow shows some small black paint highlights.
* One of the best things the Young Justice line has to offer is the excellently sized and decorated display bases. The red arrow lands on the roof of a building with a chimney, some foot pegs and a Sportsmaster Wanted poster. The paint and sculpting on it is excellent and really makes for a unique way to display the figure. Apparently the Red Arrow display base attaches to the Young Justice Robin (which I don’t have), on the attached base, which allows for a larger display.
* The wanted poster for Sportsmaster is great. Not only is it made of soft material (a flexible plastic) but it has two holes so that Roy’s arrows can penetrate the image used for target practice. Groovy.
Ways To Create A Young Justice Costume
* Red Arrow has some bad paint applications, especially on the sides of his boots and his gloves and hand packs. Paint surfaces have a fuzzy, uneven appearance.
* I have two problems with the Red Arrow arrow. First, it’s a no-string bow. A lot of Mattel figures were missing during this time (due to security concerns) so this is not unexpected. At least there are loops so you can tie your own thread in there. Second, the paint on the bow is messy with lots of rubs and errant paint splatters.
While I skipped most of this line when it was originally released, I think I’ll have to go back and pick a few of them. Mattel has done an excellent job with the figures in the 6 inch line of Young Justice (character selection and release cycle issues), especially in terms of accessories and display bases. Red Arrow is a great 1/2 figure and I don’t regret getting him. He is not a DC character that we see often and another version of him is always welcome.
If you’re looking for more Roy Harper/Arsenal/Red Arrow/Speedy figures, I checked out the DC Collectibles Red Hood and Arsenal figures from the Outlaws series and the One:12 Collective Arsenal. He looks so good…actually, I always see people like that…he’s still in shape, he just needs to shave and cut his hair…but like I said, people act like it’s normal. the time

Bulag Roy. There is only one constant in the DC Multiverse. No matter what happens, crying is useless.
Someone slapped a hat on him and I said he was fired from the Red Hood and the Outlaws.
Not a big fan of seeing slim build people. Also I want him to look like the Outlaws
@sethysquare said: He should have asked. Why… I’m like that but with gray and curly hair and no body care!

Oh, it doesn’t work for slim fit people but it doesn’t work for very thin people (like me)!? Answer me!!! I’m not fat…not very fit!
Oh dear, lol. I think stubbles look good on guys with shorter hair, so I don’t have them. My advice is to go to the gym. hahaha and cut your hair straight or short.

Everything You Need To Know Before Watching Young Justice Season 4
Hell, he looked like a mess. The most handsome guy in the team is now part of the less attractive ones (lagoon guy is hard to beat :P)
The clone looks like a red arrow; It will hurt if the real Roy becomes Arsenal, because he has no arms
There must have been 40 in his hand as he wiped his hand over his mouth. He said.
