One of the best parts of Valentine’s Day for kids is definitely the Valentine’s Day conversation at school. It is so much fun for them to choose their Valentines and also make a unique box in which to collect them. Every year my children find such cute and clever boxes and make a box for themselves. Today, I’m sharing an easy Valentine’s Day penguin box that you can make with your kids!
Valentine’s Day Pillow Boxes
This box is made from a corn box and recycled construction paper. The idea for this cute penguin box came from my penguin notebooks. I love making scrapbooks with animals, especially around Valentine’s Day. I made these penguins a few years ago and my kids thought they would make a nice box design. We painted our penguin black but you can also do red, pink and purple in Valentine’s Day colors.
Step One: Cut a square out of the back of the box so the kids have a place to leave their Valentines. You can also skip this step and leave the box above open.
Step Two: Wrap the cereal box in construction paper. You can use hot glue or duct tape to secure it. We punched the box so the top would still be open to drop the Valentine cards in, but we found that our hole in the back was big enough that we could probably seal the top.
Step Three: Cut out two shapes from the white paper – an egg shape for the penguin’s belly and a heart shape for the face. To make symmetrical shapes, fold the paper in half and cut both sides at the same time.

Step four: Cut out the rest of the paper you’ll need, including two black eye circles, an orange beak, black wings, and a red heart to hold the penguin. Use the bottom of the cute face as a template to make the frog.
Step Five: Last but not least, add the cute penguin legs that stick out from the bottom of the box!
Yay! The cute penguin box is up and ready for Valentine’s Day! If you want to add an extra touch to your penguin, decorate it with some cute Valentine’s Day accessories like a bow, a hat or a heart in its hand.
