Stained Glass Dog Patterns Free – I really enjoy these dog paintings! This is the latest Dachshunds made as a special birthday gift.

The family gave me several pictures of two dogs, their mother’s favorite pets. There are very few photos of the two dogs together, so I added the two below. I chose it because they are opposite each other and I want to show the interaction between them.

This is my PC version with a clear hammer glass background. This is a “successful” design. It is 12 “high and about 24” wide.

Vertical Stained Glass Panels

This is a “pattern sandwich”. The bottom layer has a sticky manila drawer, the middle layer is carbon paper and the top layer is a paper or “cartoon” pattern. All the lines and numbers were copied to the layers of the Manila directory, which became my tracking pattern on the mirror.

When I take pictures of dogs, I like to work with different colored fur. Here is my palette.

These two-edged glass patterns cut a narrow path between the pieces. This allows space for the copper foil to follow.

I use my chain to cut large pieces. I cover the scar with balm to prevent the fresh water from rinsing off.

After the large pieces were cut, I now cut out the details around the boundaries of each piece. Since this is a straight cut, I left the glass cutter for the shotgun along the edge of the old line.

Now all the glass is cut and placed in the “cartoon” position. Note the metal “fence” around the panel. It works to keep it “square” to prepare for the frame.

I sign and date each of my personal windows. Here I am using the Dremel tool to engrave my signature.

Next step: Apply liquid flow to the copper plate. This is a chemical that allows the solder to melt to flow evenly over the foil.

This is a “tack soldering” technique where I use a small amount of solder to connect the pieces of glass together.

At this point the “fence” is removed and I can slide the “box” paper under the “tacked” panel.

Here my husband Eric made a habit of cutting four pieces of zinc for the frame and attaching it to the border.

You replace the “phone” at this point. I then sold the frames to the panels on the front and rear cables for safety ties.

The panels are now fully soldered front and rear and the frame is installed. After soldering, I spray-clean each part thoroughly.

Here I apply black liquid patina to the solder. After setting, I cleaned the whole panel again.

And here it is after the patina is applied. Notice that I also painted white dots to add life light to the dog’s eyes.

Next is the hanging hook. I make them with 20 gauge strings that I wrap with a metal brush as shown.

I “tin” the hook, which means I coat it with liquid and cover it with a layer of solder. I then held it in place with a nose needle and added extra wire to secure it to the back of the panel. Ready!
