Snowflakes are affected by the temperature and humidity of the surrounding air, creating a complex pattern. Curved water molecules form the basic symmetrical and hexagonal pattern of snowflakes.

How To Make Animal Paper Snowflakes
Using standard printer paper, take the bottom right corner of the paper and lift it to the left edge. The bottom edge should be perfectly aligned with the left edge.
Run your fingers along the diagonal line to create a fold. Above you should be a perfect triangle with an elongated rectangle.
Cut a rectangular strip along the edge of the folded paper. You’ll be left with a triangle that unfolds into a perfect square!
Step 1: Take a square piece of paper and fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle.

Step 3: Fold the small triangle into thirds. Start by bringing the right point one-third to the left.
Step 4: Then move the left point one third to the right. Using the pattern below is easy, but if you’re doing it manually, you’ll need to adjust the folds to make sure the edges line up perfectly.
Step 6: Cut your snowflake pattern into the corners of this small triangle. You can cut diamonds into triangles, curves, even half hearts. If you cut off the ends you will have a snowflake hole in the middle.
Step 7: Carefully open your snowflake and use your fingers to pop it out. If you want it flat, you can iron it using the lowest heat.
How To Fold A Paper Snowflake Pattern (print N Cut) From Paper Snowflake Art — Paper Snowflake Art
You can use printer paper or construction paper to make snowflakes. Do not use heavy paper or it will be difficult to cut.
I prefer to use plain printer paper (8.5″ x 11″) but any size will work. You can use a legal size piece of paper (8.5 x x x 14) if that’s what you have – then use the scraps to make two small snowflakes. (or if you have 11″ x 17″ paper) you can make extra large snowflakes.
If you have trouble cutting printer paper, try using parchment paper instead. Parchment paper is thinner than regular paper, making it easier to cut.
You can use any scissors as long as they are strong and sharp. Often children’s scissors are not strong enough to cut through each layer of paper.

I like to use “detail scissors” for snowflakes. They are miniature scissors with small and sharp blades (those were my pink scissors in the video below) that make detailed cutting work easy.
