Before you start using this chore chart for your family, you’ll want to make a list of all the daily chores you need to complete. Then decide who will take care of each person.

As I mentioned earlier, we assign children age-appropriate tasks. It’s purely based on age and what you can do.

We shouldn’t break down our to-do list into the same endeavor because – let’s face it – a 10-year-old should be able to do more than a 5-year-old!

My kids are (mostly) willing to do their chores without regret because they understand the reasons I give them.

Some parents choose to tie rewards to chores. We do not have. Duties are actually part of our compensation system (and probably not what you think)! We do not pay customs duty. Instead, we expect children to do their homework and then earn fees separately.

When they’re older, we might think of finding ways to get them to earn money from us, but right now (10, 8, and 6) we don’t associate money with chores.
