This year I decided to go a different route and go a little unconventional with pumpkin carving. What better choice than the Death Star? It melted my brave heart when I first saw it somewhere online. I decided to go for it and give it a try.

It took about 10 hours to complete. I made some mistakes and they weren’t as accurate as I wanted them to be, but I had to rush them because they interfered with the closing time of the party.
Traditionally I have seen working with candles and air holes, but I didn’t want to make holes for air. I decided to add good Edison lights instead. I found the light fixture in the garage and drilled the necessary holes to make everything fit. At first I tried using incandescent bulbs, but I found the Death Star to be too close to actual death. It seemed that the exhaust amber would prove fatal to the Death Star unless the excessive heat could be overcome. Exhaust ports cause problems on the Death Star regardless of size or shape…
Anyway, I thought it would be good for CFLs that generate less heat and have a smaller form factor. It worked perfectly! I called it the Eco-Death Star. After I finish carving pumpkins for this season, I wash everything and then put everything in a small plastic bag. Don’t forget the Sharpie, glue sticks and knives. Now you can get everything you need for next year in one place. Will come, thank you!
Star Wars Pumpkins For Fall (r2 D2 And C 3po!)
Instead of removing the stems, cut 6- to 8-inch square “doors” into the back of the pumpkin. Scoop out the flesh and seeds, then clean the outside using antibacterial wipes.
Cutting around the root is not recommended.
Place the stencil on carbon transfer paper and adhere to the pumpkin. Using a ballpoint pen, make sure you trace all the lines on the stencil. This will transfer the stencil to the pumpkin.
If the pumpkin design has gray areas, scrape the top of the pumpkin without cutting into the flesh. This allows some light to pass through without the same intensity as the part that is completely cut off.
