2. For the military coat, cut from blue construction paper (5 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches wide).

3. From a white fabric, cut a piece (1 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches long) for the shirt. Also, cut a piece that looks like “ruffles” about 3 1/2 inches wide (at the widest part) and 3 inches long. Skip step 5.

4. Cut 2 yellow strips (1 inch by 7 1/2 inches) to go down the center of the jacket.
5. Pin the shirt piece to the center of the jacket, directly below the chin. Glue two yellow strips on each side of the shirt. Apply glue to the back of the ruffles and place them on top of the shirt.
. Cut 2 star shapes from yellow construction paper and glue them to the front of the hat. Glue the hat on top of the head.
7. Apply glue to the back of both googly eyes and attach them to the face. Using a black marker, draw a nose and smile on the face.

, apply hot glue up and down both sides of the face. Attach the white pom poms to the glue, two on each side.
9. For the buttons, cut 2 small circles about the size of a nickel from the gold glitter paper. Glue 2 circles to the center of the jacket. Teach the kids a little history when you try one of these President’s Day crafts for kids. They will have fun and learn something!

Former President Abraham Lincoln also had a birthday in February, so Presidents’ Day is often associated with those two presidents. However, it has changed over the years and is said to celebrate the office of the President and not the office of any President. Whatever the reason, it’s a great opportunity to talk to kids about the United States and the different presidents we’ve had over the years.
Presidents Day Theme
To keep the kids busy, especially if they have President’s Day at school, I’ve put together four fun projects for you to choose from!
Paint the front of each cardboard tube with peach paint. Most of them will be covered, so it shouldn’t be comprehensive. Cover one of the cardboard tubes with black construction paper and cut a section so that the peach is not covered on top (the face). Repeat this with green construction paper in another tube.
To make President Lincoln’s hat, place a cardboard tube on a piece of black construction paper. Draw a circle on the paper that is half an inch larger than the tube. Cut out that circle. Now roll a separate piece of black construction paper over the top of the hat. Apply glue with a glue stick, then add white art glue to the bottom of the tube and glue it to the black circle. Set aside to dry.
Finally, use a black marker to add Lincoln’s beard. For Washington hair, carefully roll the cotton ball into a strip. Roll up each end and glue it to the cardboard tube. Attach the top of Lincoln’s head with white glue and place his hat on top.
Presidents Day Craft Activities
Color the craft sticks with a brown marker. Cover the milk carton with craft sticks using white art glue.
Cut off the top of the milk carton, leaving a small square for the chimney. You may need to tape the top together to keep it closed. Cover the chimney with black construction paper.
Make a door and windows using black and yellow construction paper and glue to the cabinet. Pull a small piece from the cotton ball. Attach it to the chimney.
Paint the paper plates peach and let dry. Meanwhile, cut out the patterns and paste as needed:
Perfect Presidents’ Day Activities
Glue Lincoln’s hat on top of one of the painted paper plates. Glue his knitted jacket to the bottom and back of the plate. Tear some black construction paper and glue around the remaining plate of Lincoln’s beard.
Glue Washington’s hat to the top of the second paper plate. Glue his knitted jacket to the bottom and back of the plate. Paint the left and right sides of the plate with white art glue and place the cotton balls on the glue in a line. Add a line of glue to the side of the cotton ball and stick one side of the cotton ball to the plate. Repeat this three times on each side.
