→ Marshmallow Number Match – Count the number of marshmallows in each mug of hot chocolate. Then use counting symbols, numbers, or number words to identify the correct number of marshmallows.
→ What should I wear in winter? – There are 12 clothing items that should match well with a winter scene or a summer scene.
→ Snowflake Pattern – Determine which snowflake comes next in this set of patterns. All patterns are A-B-A-B-A, although some are quite difficult due to how intricate the snowflakes are.
How To Make File Folder Games That Help Kids Learn The Fun Way
→ Snowman Shape Match – Each snowman is a different shape! Match each shape to the correct snowman.
→ Color Words Snow Kids – Each bundled child is wearing different colored snow clothes. Match each colored word with the correct child.
→ Snowball Sight Words – Match each sight word from the Dolch Pre-Primer list to its snowman with the same sight word.

I have included detailed instructions in the package, however, most games only take 5-8 minutes to assemble after you print out the pages. Get another 8 minutes or so if you prefer to laminate your games, which I highly recommend if your games will be heavily used.
Mamma That Makes: Shape Matching File Folder Game
After printing, glue the two main game pieces inside your file folder. No need to cut these – just glue.
Cut out the file folder tab and the front of the file folder and glue the front of your file folder for easy identification.
Finally, cut out all the game pieces and store them in a labeled Ziploc baggie or 5×9″ envelope to keep in your file folder game. You will find the labels on pages 4-5 of the package download.

Free Alphabet File Folder Games. Letter recognition and letter sound recognition is an important step on the road to reading. Take every opportunity to point out letters and practice their sounds with children, not only in the classroom, but also at home and on the go. Babies can soon pick out letters from symbols and begin to recognize sounds easily. Folder games are another great way to practice and reinforce early reading skills. Our games are designed to make it easy for kids to play alone or with a parent or teacher. Assembly for most games is self-explanatory, although we’ve included brief instructions and photo examples where necessary.
This is a matching game for upper and lower case letters with a heart theme. Children draw a small heart and find the correct capital letter on the game board. This game is a little easier than the flower game above because the hearts are the same color for both upper and lower case letters.
Kids love animals, and these cute and colorful characters are fun to match to their “first letter.” For extra fun, pair this game with the ASL version above, and it’s a double matching game for kids who need a little challenge.
Students work on matching uppercase letters to lowercase letters with this free file folder game. This set includes sequential letter formation worksheets for students to practice alphabetic handwriting for both upper and lower case letters.
