The supplies needed to make a birthday card are very simple! Basically cardboard and scrap paper in different colors. But as with all of our decorations, I encourage you to work with what you have on hand and dip into your craft box, you can easily add washi tape, glitter paper, stickers, ribbons and even ribbons to your happy birthday design. . !

Note: you don’t have to use “pretty patterned paper/scattered paper” like I did here.. but you can decorate the “white cake” e.g. with a pen or washi tape. Look at what you have and work with what you have! Remember, this pop-up birthday card is so easy to make yourself that you’ll want to make more and more… so why not make a batch and use it all year long for birthdays to come? Make the bride and groom white and you have the perfect wedding card!

Start with the cake slices, as the bottom will affect the size of the rest of the cake.

Think about the obstacles on your cake – whether it’s a candle or a little bride and groom. Keep it simple, the end result will be beautiful, and you don’t need to be an artist to create the details. Cut out your candles or your spouse and get them ready!

Using the card stock as a guide, trim a bit of the white A5 paper so you get a good frame when inside the card!

Take your candles and line them with the folded paper and roughly measure the top of the cake and the bottom of the cake.

Make 4 cuts: 2 long cuts (about 5 cm), a medium cut (about 3.5 cm) and a small cut (about 2 cm)

We made a birthday cake with pop up tiers and used beautiful tissue paper to add the candles. But you can use any paper and decorate it with markers, washi tape, stickers, glitter, ribbons, lace and even buttons! This easy DIY birthday card is a great way to adapt anything you have around the house.

It’s time to write your birthday message! If you could also draw birthday balloons in the background of your card! This would make a great birthday card for mom, dad, grandpa, grandpa, or a good friend! The recipient will love it and it’s a great way to add some holiday flair to their special day.
