The original ’73 logo featured a turquoise outline of the state of Kentucky. In the center is the head of a lynx-like wild cat. It has an aggressive, vicious nature.

In many ways, it’s the same two letters as the previous logo. However, the wild cat disappeared, the letters became wider and the color scheme changed. The blue became pale, and the outlines were replaced with a mixture of white and blue on the outside.

The Kentucky Wildcats are the intercollegiate athletic teams of the University of Kentucky. The varsity’s female athletes and women’s teams were known as the “Lady Cats” for most of the club’s history until the name “Wildcats” was adopted by players of both sexes in the mid-1990s.
The club was nicknamed the “Wildcats” after a football road victory over Illinois in 1909. The first truly memorable Kentucky logo appeared in 1973. Not only the tongue, but the entire color scheme has changed.
Today, the club’s main logo is a combination of two interlocking letters, “U” and “K” (University of Kentucky). It was first used in 1997 as an alternative to the main symbol. In 2016, the color scheme and the shape of the letters were slightly changed.

Both the wordmark and the Kentucky Wildcats logo have a two-letter, almost identical traditional-looking serif typeface. Compared to the wordmark, the logo features slightly wider versions of the letters “U” and “K”.
The current Kentucky logo combines both the university’s official colors, Kentucky blue and white. Kentucky Blue is a saturated shade of dark blue. While previous logos were a combination of blue and white, the shades were slightly different.
The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team is the winningest program in college basketball history. In 2009, became the first Division I team to reach two thousand wins.
