It’s birthday season in our family, and I’m always looking for new party decorating ideas. We made these two paper bead versions that are machine stitched down the center for extra strength. Sewing will allow us to reuse them for a few birthdays before summer is over. Glitter paper decorations always make a party more festive, and these garlands are super easy and cheap to make. *Rolls of streamers in different colors (these are left over from the surprise balls we made for Easter)

Themed Party And Streamer Ideas

1. Open some streamers and sew in the middle, leaving a long tail to hang at the beginning and end. We use a #3 straight stitch.

2. Continue to unwind the serpentine roll while the machine picks up paper. Work the seam along the roll or to desired length.

3. The seam guides the streamer toward the water as it moves along. (You can also try sewing a thin streamer through the center for another layer of color.)

3. Using your sewing machine, open the crepe and sew along the center. We use straight stitch number 3. Leave a long tail of yarn at the beginning and end for hanging. (You can also try sewing a thin strip of crepe down the center to add another layer of color.)

4. Using scissors, cut strips on both sides of the sewn crepe. Be careful not to cut the stitches. Streamer backdrops are a quick and easy way to decorate any occasion. Pair it with a banner or just use it as a photo booth backdrop. Either way, this super easy $5 DIY is sure to be a hit at your next party.

Yep, those simple paper streamers you’ve probably seen countless times and, if you’re like me, have no idea what to do with them.

They have always fascinated me. You can find them in the party aisles of stores, they come in every color of the rainbow and they are super cheap. I used them a few times when I clumsily twisted them and hung them horizontally against the wall.

Getting Some Fun Out Of Life: Birthday Doorway: Ruffled Streamers And Balloons

If you want you can add a banner to the background of your streamer (as shown in the pictures), I think it’s fine either way. I used Canva to design the banner I used for my in-laws’ 50th wedding anniversary and wanted to share it with you so you can have the same option.

The third is the graduation banner. There are 2 versions. The first will generate “Class of 2019” (with custom year numbers). Another will read “Congratulations Grad” with a custom year number to go with it.

I recently made this special backdrop for a unicorn birthday party. My favorite thing about this project was that I put everything together and made some mistakes (I like to think of them as creative redirects). Nevertheless, it was still not a headache, it was very easy and turned out very well. My other favorite thing is that it’s definitely pink with some shimmer.

*I used a stick I had around the house. Depending on how long you need it, you can find them at your local hardware store for under $2. You can also use something like an aluminum shower/curtain rod. If you don’t have a large (heavy) background, you can also use rope or fishing line.

The number of streamers and the length of the dowel will depend on how long you need for the bottom. I placed the buffet on my dresser, making the backdrop about 1.5 meters (4.92 feet).

The streamers came in packs of 4 different colors so I bought two packs. But I only used 5 rolls, so if you have less colors you won’t need 8 like I did.
