Paper Plate Clowns – I love a good “theme” and the circus theme is one of my favorites. I recently had a great time making circus crafts and dressing up with the kids. Today I’m sharing free tutorials and printable templates.
One of my favorite circus acts is the clown puppet I make. Print out the card template (found here ), color and cut out the clown, add eyes and a button nose (with glue) and stick a craft stick on the back. Isn’t that cute?
Paper Plate Clowns
I also made a cute elephant statue. Print out the template (found here ) on card stock, cut it out (including the nose hole), glue on some eyes, and stick a craft stick on the back. Being able to use a child’s finger as a forefinger makes this circus act even more special!

It’s also easy to turn little girls into clowns with simple paper plate clown collars. All you have to do is cut a paper plate in the middle, paint it, and cut a hole in the back. I love how easy and inexpensive this craft is and I guarantee your kids will love it too!
These circus crafts are perfect for an afternoon of crafts, but they’re also great activities for a circus party! I hope you and your little ones will love this fun circus craft as much as we do.

– Staple/glue to pieces of card stock and move the eyes to their marked spots on the paper plate and finish by drawing a smile with a black sharpie marker.
* At this point, you can add any other decorations you want to give your clown a unique look!

Let the children name their clowns. The more pom poms the better. If you don’t have pom poms, why not use pipe cleaners for curly clown hair?

We used a ready-made colored paper plate to make this clown, but you can also paint your paper plate.
But here you can save time by using a colored paper plate like pink and you won’t have to wait for the paint to dry before your little one decorates the clown face.
You have a little preparation to shape the craft foam, but then you can do it with your child.

A fun and easy craft for toddlers and preschoolers is to make a paper plate clown face.
If you want to make it into a mask, instead of gluing the eyes on, you can cut out holes for your little one’s eyes, then add ribbon or elastic and put the mask on.
