So it started with a computer program called Pepakura. It takes a 3-D model and turns it into a piece that you print, then cut and glue together. You can download the wallpaper http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/ and I suggest you get the wallpaper designer and not the wallpaper viewer. If you have a viewer, you won’t be able to change the size of the file in your custom, so get a designer.

After downloading the designer, you should see two mask files. Just Google “combination of two wallpaper files” and I’m sure you’ll find it. After downloading the file, play with the features for a while to see how they work. When you decide everything, you need to adjust the mask to the size.

Ok, so you’ve got the file size, it’s time to start the real work. Click the button and grab the coffee cup. I like to cut one piece at a time so I don’t mix them together and I don’t know where they come from, but you can do whatever you want.

Once your small pieces are cut, look at the diagram on your computer and put them together like a puzzle and glue them together. For glue, I would suggest something that dries quickly, maybe super glue. Then you begin the long and repetitive process of several hours of cutting, folding, and gluing.

This step is important if you want the mask to be a prop or for paintball. Now we are using fiberglass.

Well, start by cutting the fiber cloth into enough pieces that you will need if you want it to be a paint protector. After cutting the parts, add a layer of fiberglass resin. To remove fiberglass resin, empty the container and pour about one ounce of resin and 10 drops of solvent into it, then mix well. When the resin is ready, apply a thin layer to the mask, apply it with a soft brush, then take the fiberglass pieces and place them on the wet fiberglass, then cover the pieces fiberglass and more. Resin. It’s like fiberglass melted into resin.

This is a simple task, but most of the time of the whole project. You start by taking an amount of bondo the size of a golf ball, pour a generous amount of cream and mix.

A special bondo mixing technique is gray and red bondo. To mix, not just mix, stir the air, you need to mix the hard until you get a nice coat color and it becomes a salmon color.

After mixing, you need to take and apply the mask. Keep in mind that you won’t have much time to set the bondo or dry it before you install everything, so try to do it quickly.

After 20 minutes of letting the bondo dry, it was time to start my favorite part of the whole project, the sanding. This part doesn’t need much explanation, just sand and everything is fine.

This is only a relief, because fiberglass is not very good. So I just cut a few pieces of craft foam (I think it was cheap at Hobby Lobby) and glued them in place, simple as that. If you think it’s necessary, you can add foam, or another cloth, because you don’t want the mirror too close to your face.

If you don’t want to make it into a paintball mask, you can skip this step. I looked at my face after I finished sanding and saw more strength, so I decided to add some fiberglass resin to the outside of the mask.

As before, add a resin and use a brush to apply it to the outside of the mask, I used 4 coats. After the resin is completely dry, make several runs. So break out that old electric sander and get to work, there may still be some divots left after you finish sanding. To solve this problem, take a skin bottle and cover the entire mask with a thin layer.

After the surface is dry, do a light sanding, it is easy to apply the tile so that it is not too hard. It’s time to get started and paint!

Another simple, but important step in creating the final product. I used an automotive primer that didn’t work but I think the paint is better than a regular primer.

After the primer dries, it’s time to sand more. The final picture is what it looks like after sanding the primer, varnish cake and fiberglass resin.

A good idea before you put on your mask is to try a fire that doesn’t seem to break. It took me 3 tries before my mask was strong enough to resist being hit by a paintball.

If the ball breaks the mask, just patch the holes/cracks with fiberglass, bondo and resin.

This is important! Get strong glasses that won’t break when you pick them up, go out and try them on so they don’t seem to break.

After trying on the lenses you need to get them in the shape you want, I used a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut them down to shape. Once you have the lenses in the right shape, fit them into the mask.

As an extra touch, I added hand-made foam to the edges of the lenses to make them more comfortable.

If you google two mask bands you will find 100’s of different paints. Choose something you like and can actually do. I went with a plain camo look because I love camo, and it’s for paintball after all.

ᴡᴜᴡ If you’re using spray paint, do it in a well ventilated area, it’s not good to breathe fumes.

For the strap, you need to take a dremel and make three cuts, one on the top and two on the sides. I used a piece of elastic to hold it from side to side and sewed it to fit perfectly. The other strap is from an old bag and I sewed on an elastic band for extra support on top of the head.
