Organizational Chart For Small Business – There are three job levels in your business: a leadership role, a manager role, and an engineer role. The role of the CEO is to define vision, set direction and create programs. A manager’s job is to maintain, configure, and measure systems. An engineer’s job is to perform a specific business function – eg. operating systems. How do you organize your small business for maximum results?
Now, I realize that most small business owners wear three hats! However, to be strategic and grow your business, you need to learn to spend more time on the CEO and less time on the technical side of the business. Where most of us struggle is that we don’t spend enough time “up front” because so much of our time is spent “doing.”

I recommend starting with a ready sketch. However, don’t build your chart around people, build it around roles and tasks. Start with the 5 key areas of every business:
Organizational Structure Of The Private Medical Company
These are the 5 BIG systems you need to build your small business. You, as the business owner, are the CEO, so your first box should be at the top. This is the President’s box. Now if you spend most of your time on the technical side of the business, you won’t be in the top box. As a result, your business will not grow much! If so, growth is often not sustainable. So spending more time in the top box should be your goal!
The next level is the “Administrator” level. As I mentioned earlier, there are five main systems to manage: marketing, sales, operations, supervision, and HR. In other words, there are five main roles:
Now, again, as a small business owner, you can be a person in all 5 of these managers’ boxes. But you have to break down the system diagram like this to see clearly what you’re doing! This is also necessary during selection.
At the bottom of each manager’s box is a list of skills that engineers perform. List various engineering roles and jobs! So, in my org chart, under Marketing, I have the following functions:

These are all smart things any marketing “engineer” can do. You want to do this in all five directions. Doing this will show you how many “boxes” there are. Then you’ll be organized enough to start making and giving programs.
When I first did this, my org chart had over 40 boxes! I was a “self-employed person” at that time. Now I have a few employees and I’m checking all the boxes to see what I can get out of it. However, be aware that you can’t get out of the box until you download the program.
