This coloring book has so many great inspirational quotes that make it a must read for kids.

Reading Dr. Seuss books are great any time of year, but one of the best times to do Dr. Seuss craft is Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Seuss, on March 2, which coincides with Red Across America Day.

As I mentioned, my theme for the year is Oh, The Places You’ll Go! I like to start the year using the pastel bulletin board option. I use prompts, “This year, (student writes name) will do (I write the goal they tell me in another blank).”

Enjoy this book with your children, then create these oh-the-places after your balloon flight.

It’s a great way to further enjoy the text and delve into all things Seuss. It’s even a fun activity to do before a big trip or in conjunction with rhyming words (put rhyming words on balloons!) Here’s how to get started!

Oh The Places You’ll Go Hot Air Balloon Craft

1. Start by cutting out a balloon shape from your pink foam. We did ours freehand which was pretty easy. Simply create an oval shape and finish the bottom with a triangle shape. If you want, practice on plain scrap paper first.

2. Now cut some strips of yellow foam or felt that will be used to make the straps on your balloon. They don’t have to be perfect and are actually more fun if they’re wild and rugged.

3. Place strips of yellow foam or felt over the balloon. Attach them with glue. Cut them to fit.

4. Finish your balloon by adding ribbon or string to the bottom of the balloon.
