Oh The Places You Ll Go Crafts – Oh The Places You Will Go is a fun book to read with your students or to talk about the future while reading! It’s also a great book for making a fun bulletin board and that’s why we have a free balloon template for you to match.
Then we gave each child a balloon (pattern to follow) and let them color them. Students can also easily color them with crayons or markers. This was a preschool class so we cut them for the kids but if your students can cut, let them do it too. To attach to our wall, we taped them because our door is metal. We added a few folds to the string for depth (just used paper).

The rest of the door was literally thrown together. There’s a white piece from the paper workroom that doesn’t quite fit and that’s okay. The words are from some of the clippings we have. The hills are taped together from colored cardboard and cut to the correct size. In total, the assembly of the door took about 25-30 minutes.

*Take your paper plate and cut out 1/4 of it to give it the shape of a hot air balloon.
* Ask the children to hold the tissue paper over the glue until the paper plate is completely covered.

* While they are working on it, cut other features of the hot air balloon out of cardboard. I made a basket, and also made a strip for the lanyard that connects the basket to the balloon.

We love this college admission bulletin board that shows the names of various colleges on balloons with the students name written below. If you teach in elementary school, you can create the same board with places where faculty and staff used to go to college.

Seuss’ book Oh the Places You Will Go is full of great illustrations and encouraging words and lots of imagery. It’s a great way to enjoy the lesson further and be involved in all things Seuss. This is a fun activity to do before a big road trip or with rhyming words (put rhyming words on balloon strips!) Here’s how you can get started!
1. Begin by cutting out a balloon shape from your pink foam. We did our release which was very easy. Simply draw an oval shape and finish the bottom with a triangular shape. Practice on regular scrap paper first, if you wish.
2. Now, cut some strips of yellow foam or felt that will be used to make the stripes on your balloon. These are not necessarily perfect, and are actually more fun if they are wild and uneven.
3. Put yellow foam strips or felt on the balloon.
