A nursing resume only includes qualities and skills directly related to nursing, so no resume is needed. Other types of instruction manuals are shorter or longer. All that is required is an introduction, a short introduction, 1-2 body paragraphs, a short conclusion and an official logo with your contact information below. The writer should avoid flowery language and omit information that is not relevant to the nurse or the job being applied for.

If you know the recipient’s name, start with “Dear [name],” otherwise a formal greeting of “To whom it may concern” will do. The introductory paragraph should be short and contain only 2-3 sentences. Explain the purpose of the letter, your relationship with the applicant and a brief description of the applicant’s personality.

It is useful to include a history of when the applicant went on to assist a patient/staff member, as well as any relevant accomplishments in this field. While there is no need to mention an applicant’s skills outside of work, don’t assume that a non-nursing skill is irrelevant in this line of work. This is a competitive field and the more information you can provide, the more helpful a reference letter will be.
