Make Your Own Elf Ears – We now offer half-elf ears that are perfect for most Lord of the Rings cosplay. Here’s a little guide to help you decide on elf ears. Many elves in LOTR have rather small ears. Legolas has very fine ears, but his father Thranduil has more prominent elven ears. Legolas seems to follow his mother in terms of ears and temperament.

Our half-elf ears are both stylish and low-profile, making them the perfect choice for Arwen, Galadriel and Legolas cosplay. I’ve included some comparison shots of Middle-earth elves and various shots of our ears. These elf ears are understated and very realistic, usually mistaken for ear surgery. They are cast in silicone and hand painted in your desired color; five skin tones as well as color matching.

Our classic goblin ears are a good choice for Thranduil and Tauriel cosplay. These ears are also quite stylish, but are more substantial than the Half-elf style. Our elf ears are cast from real silicone, making them the best choice for those with latex allergies. These suggestions are based on Peter Jackson’s vision of Middle-earth, needless to say, if you’re making your own Middle-earth elf, the choice is yours.

Jacqueline has a degree in fine arts and has been designing and creating silicone ears and prostheses for 5 years. Elf, fairy, nymph, pixie, imp, goblin, brownie; Whichever name you prefer, it’s a favorite among many costume designers. A complete fantasy, and although it is represented in many ways, the character of the leprechaun is almost always paired with a rather elaborate pair of ears.

For this character, I knew I wanted to create a set of ears that would make a statement. They are over 8 1/2 inches tall and over 4 1/2 inches wide. For the construction, felt was the choice because it is durable but still soft enough to wear comfortably.

Now that I had the ears, it was time to add a little whimsy. What started as a freehand doodle inspired by our own non-fairy ears ended up being the perfect finishing touch.

I matched my character with a tonal felt, but if you want to bring out the gorgeous accent, you can definitely use a contrasting color, patterned felt, or add some glitter.

NOTE: If using a cutting machine, be sure to attach your material to the appropriate mat for the machine. Select the appropriate cutting settings and install the appropriate cutting blade for the material.

If you plan to use a cutting machine, load the pattern file into your design software. To hand cut, print, cut out the pattern and trace the materials.

If you plan to dress up as an elf for a party or a character costume, you need pointy elf ears. There are several ways to make a pair of elf ears for different crafting skills. You can make the ears out of felt and attach to tape or make an ear with tape for a quick project, or you can do a more involved project and make custom goblin ears out of liquid latex and modeling clay. To get started, choose a method that suits your crafting skills and time.

An easy way to make goblin ears is to start by standing in front of a mirror and holding a piece of paper to your ear. With the paper up to the ear, use a pencil to trace the general outline of the ear. Don’t worry about getting the sketch perfect, as you’ll only be using it as a template for size. Next, draw a pointy goblin ear around the outline of the ear and cut it out with scissors. Once the template is cut out, take a marker and draw 4 times on a piece of felt that is close to the skin tone. Cut out these goblin ears, then use hot glue to layer the felt into the double-layered ears. Finally, attach each ear to the party hat or headband with hot glue and let dry for a few minutes before wearing. Diy Elf Costume: Quick Christmas Costume From Peek A Boo

These DIY elf ears came about during a holiday card brainstorming session at work. After work I knew I was going to try to make them and especially I knew my daughter Olivia would absolutely love them and boy was she right! If you have a child who loves to play pretend or play dress up, then read on and I’ll share how to make these festive gnome ears!

I designed a pair of leprechaun ears on the computer and then sent them as an SVG file to the Cricut Maker, which made creating multiple pairs of these paper ears easy. If you have a Cricut Explore or Maker and want to make them, the video below will walk you through the simple process of uploading an SVG file, preparing it, and sending it to the machine for cutting.

What do you mean you don’t have a Cricut? That’s fine too, I’m sharing the elf ears template in pdf format as well. Print the file on cardboard and cut it out with scissors and your little one can become an elf too!

Once the pointed ears are cut, simply attach them to your or your child’s ears and they will stay in place without glue or tape.
