First trace the shape of your bra or swimsuit onto the craft foam making sure the foam covers it. I added a scalloped edge to the large side as shown below. I also drew two smaller shapes, all with scalloped edges. When we are done, all three pieces are put together to make the final piece. Also note the lines I drew. They were cut and stacked on top of each other to create a curved structure.

Next, hot glue the holes and place one layer on top of the other. It should form a nice curved shape. After all three are glued, glue them on top of each other and glue them together. It is important that each layer faces differently (shown below). Otherwise, they will not fit you!

Now it’s time to paint! This is where your creativity really comes into play. I painted each layer (front and back) the same shade of purple to give it a great background. I then went in with a deep purple color to outline the edges of the bark and the lines to connect to the stake in the grooves. I painted the inside of each round piece a lighter, more shimmery purple. Finally, I painted silver glitter on the edges, center corners and lines of each face. look below

Home Grade! Now you want to add tons of glitter! These AB rhinestones from Walmart are inexpensive and very shiny. I also bought flat beads from Hobby Lobby. Try to focus the decor in the middle. I prefer to use the E6000 for crystal work, however, I caution you to only use it in a well ventilated area! This stuff is strong and known to cause cancer if inhaled…

Finally, it’s time to attach the mermaid shells to the top of the bra/bathing suit. E6000 does not dry quickly, but has a strong hold. Hot glue dries quickly, but can sometimes peel. I used a mixture of the two to fix the shells at the top of the bra. I used E6000 between the shells and then hot glue around the outside to quickly secure the edges. Using hot glue, I added more beads and rhinestones to the center of the bra top to give it a casual look.
