Lesson Plan Calendar Template – The key to a successful preschool year is planning. I am someone who likes to write my lesson plans on paper. It helps me organize my thoughts and focus on what I need to teach. Today I am excited to share my new weekly preschool planner that I will be using with my 4 year old this school year!
I like to plan my week by Sunday and gather the materials I need for that week’s lessons. Here’s a look at what the page looks like. Here’s what we do about these topics:

I have many preschool moms ask me how to do this, especially if you only have 1 child and you are homeschooling. I think circle time is a great way to start a preschooler’s day. This becomes a routine and helps the child understand that this is how the school day starts. If you have older children at home, this is a great way to do something together. I still recommend circle time if you have 1 child.

Language skills include listening, reading, writing, and speaking. For preschoolers, this means doing activities with the alphabet, listening skills, phonics, words and handwriting.
Preschool math includes counting, colors, patterns, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, shapes, sorts, graphs, money, sorts, matching, and subtitling.
I love doing experiments and hands-on activities in preschool. In preschool, we usually do 1 activity in math or science.

Motor skills are important for both fine motor (small movements) and gross motor (large movements) skills! Building fine motor skills helps with pencil and handwriting skills. We don’t do both every day, but we try.
Exploring emotions is very important for preschoolers. Sensory hoppers are a great way to do this. You can also create sensory bottles or other sensory activities.
I do an art activity or craft process 3 times a week. Process art is a transparent artistic activity. No matter what your preschooler comes up with with art, there is no final product!
These are the topics I have planned. I’m also sure we have lots of time to play outside, play games, go on field trips, and read lots of books! I recently discovered that I feel better when I plan our week around these topics. (You’ll notice from the picture above that we don’t have formal school on Wednesdays. How many days do you think you should study. I recommend 2-4 days a week for preschoolers.)

I also want to share some sample tables for 2, 3, and 4-5 year olds. 2 year olds are too young to start formal preschool, so I only do 1 core activity with them (literacy or math). Here’s what the tables look like:
