How To Make Minnie Mouse Invitations – This is a sponsored discussion written by me on behalf of Cricut. Opinions and text are mine.
I’m so excited to share all of my DIY Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Ideas in today’s blog post. We celebrated my daughter Reagan’s 2nd birthday a few weeks ago. She’s a girl who loves princesses, dolls, and of course Minnie Mouse. I went back and forth on what theme to celebrate her second birthday with. In the end, I think Minnie Mouse is the perfect theme! I wasn’t sure I’d be able to make a “birthday themed” call after this year, so I made the most of it.
How To Make Minnie Mouse Invitations
Idea. Over the course of this month, I’ve been working on all the different projects you can see below. I’ll say I’ll be working around at night – I don’t want to scare you! To that end, I once started crafting in the middle of the night the night before my kid’s birthday! Any ideas you find can be found in Cricut Design Space with cut files and using Cricut Maker. I’ll link them to this blog post and share the final images. You have to stop by for details and step-by-step instructions on all the projects I do. I’ll be sharing a series of individual project blog posts on how to execute each project I create. You can make Mickey Mouse instead of Minnie Mouse in many projects! Super versatile!
Handmade Minnie Mouse Birthday Invitations
We had Reagan’s birthday party in the children’s playground. They will be automatically decorated according to the theme you want! I bought the birthday package knowing I would add my own items. They charged over $200 extra for decoration! I mean, don’t get me wrong, the decor is great, but I can’t bring myself to spend that much when I can add my own flares for a fraction of the cost.
Below are some of the supplies I used to make most of the products below.
First, this year I sent out the invitation myself. In the 5 years I have hosted kids birthday parties, I have never tried to make my own invitations. I recently added a “Print and Cut” feature to Cricut Design Space®
(I’ll share more about that in another blog post). Now that I know how to use this feature, I can create the cutest custom birthday invitations. This sets the tone for all other projects I create!

First up is the birthday banner! I knew I was going to have back pain, so I decided to make Reagan’s name out of a Minnie Mouse silhouette. I used Cricut Black & White Cardstock, Red Shimmer and Disney® Deluxe Paper, Minnie Rocks the Dots (Black & White Stripes). I used my Xyron label maker and ran the letters through the machine. I layered the banner with 3D sticker dots.
Next, party hats! There is no manufacturer on this planet that makes black party hats. Trust me, I scoured the internet (and stores)! I made Mickey and Minnie’s hats on the Cricut Maker. I will say that I was going to add the white buttons to the red Mickey hat, but time and memory have passed me by and I never added it. I still think they turned out great! For Minnie’s bow, I used black and red Cricut cardstock, a hot glue gun, a roll of rubber band, and red and white polka dot fabric! I followed a tutorial from my friend Kelsey to make a boutique style bow. I love the combination of fabric and paper. Luckily, we only had 5 little girls in our party, so I only had to make 5 Minnie Mouse party hats.
After a little “Googling” I saw that other people had switched paper trays. I knew I wanted to make this for our banquet hall table. With a Cricut Maker, black paper plate, black and red cardstock, and double sided tape, I’m in business!
When I was making Minnie Mouse plates, I decided to wrap the plastic items and make a napkin ring to match our theme. I found my own template at Cricut Design Space®, added a circle, then added a Minnie Mouse silhouette with a red shiny bow. I used double sided tape again to stick everything together! If you haven’t figured it out, I hate glue so use double sided tape whenever I can.

I always love a “show” cake for birthday parties. A tall cake and all my guests went “wow”. Jon and I almost always make cakes for our kids. We usually have cake for the adults and cupcakes for the kids. To make this cake topper I used a Cricut Maker, Kraft cardboard, Cricut Shimmer paper, glue, and a starter to hold this cake topper together.
I think cupcakes are always the easiest for kids birthday parties. Making cupcake toppers is easy with Cricut! Simply use the Cricut Maker to cut out the Mickey Mouse silhouette, then cut out the sparkly red bow. I attached the party appetizers with glue dots and double sided tape. These toothpicks are better than traditional toothpicks because they are not as sharp and are not suitable for small children.
I knew I wanted to make my own serving bags. As you browse the internet, you’ll find that there are so many options and ways to create your favorite Mickey and Minnie bags. I made Mickey and Minnie because I have so many more boys than girls.
With Cricut, I was able to easily create a handwritten look and use the “write in” function to customize each treat bag with the child’s name, then the Cricut Maker cut out all the Mickey Mouse outlines. For the bag, I added a holographic sparkly red Minnie bow (Cricut cut that too).
Musings Of An Average Mom: Minnie Mouse Invitations
You know I can’t plan a birthday party without making a coordinating tee! At the end of the day, DIY iron-on vinyl shirts are my absolute favorite! I used the exact same design I made for the cake topper on his shirt. So there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here. I used a black shirt with gold glitter and a red glitter bow. In hindsight – I wish I covered the cake with gold glitter too. I used Cricut EasyPress 2 6×7 to attach the design to the shirt. A lovely simple shirt that takes about 20 minutes from start to finish.
We were at Reagan’s party from 9-11 and knew that pizza (provided by the venue) was definitely not an option. So we decided to offer a brunch menu. Here’s everything we served at her birthday brunch.
Super easy. With just a few simple materials, you can throw an amazing DIY birthday party. My main medium for most of my projects is cardboard! My guests are amazed that I do most of what they see. There is nothing I love more than throwing memorable birthday parties for my kids.

He had a great birthday, but he especially loved Mickey Mouse’s birthday party. I’m happy to design it for him. The first thing I do for a party is make these Mickey Mouse invitations. He loves it and every time I make it he screams, “Mickey Mouse! It’s almost my birthday!” He’s so excited! I just love it.
Free Minnie Mouse Party Printables
1. Google the main model of Mickey, choose the one you like. I have used this. Copy and paste it into a Word document, resize it to your desired size and print it. (It’s easier to trace if you print it on white cardstock.) Cut it out, trace it on black cardstock, and cut it out. Continue until you have the amount you need.
2. Write your text using Word, format it the way you want and print it on a white board. To get the text to fit nicely inside the circle, I go to Insert, then Shapes and add a circle, make it the size I want, and type the text inside the circle. Fits 2 pages. For the words Hot Dog and Mickey Mouse Party, I used the Minnie font, which you can download for free here. For the second font, I used Cinnamon Cake, which you can also download for free here.
After printing, cut out the circle and glue it to the black Mickey head with a glue stick.
3. Make a half circle and make a pocket for the invitation (Mickey’s shorts)
