One Christmas, sometime in kindergarten, my daughter announced that Nala was walking and that she needed clothes.
So Santa bought felt and tulle, glittery organza, trim, strips, velcro and ribbon and made pajamas, covers, skirts and pajamas in sizes to fit Nala and her big feet.
This is one of the easiest projects I’ve ever made. If you can thread a needle or heat a glue gun, you’re good to go.

Use a glue gun to glue them together. Cut two 4 inch strips of string or elastic and glue them to the back between the layers.
Cut the layers of the hat pattern from the red area. Cut two pieces of white fabric from the bottom of the pattern.

Gather the hat by folding it into a cone and tape it about 1/2″ from the side of the overlap. Attach the elastic to the edge of the hat to create a band.

How To Be An Elf
Have fun, but watch out for these elves – they can pick up on your tricks and play when you’re not looking. When Halloween comes around, I don’t do anything scary. I like to crash and dress up, but bloody clothes and haunted houses are not my thing. Last year I didn’t think to dress up because I was going out of town, but the friend I was visiting had a bag full of clothes that she gave him. We went through them and saw a Mrs. Claus dress… what?! Nothing could be more perfect for me! I dropped this pacifier and it fits like a glove; a dream come true. As much as I love Christmas, you’d think I’d think of dressing up as Mrs. Claus first haha. But needless to say, it’s a perfect costume and a fun Halloween.
With this dress being so popular last year, I had to have something good this year! So when I decided to become an elf, I started looking for clothes. I quickly realized that I could make my own clothes just as easily as buying them and saving money while I was at it.
The first thing is the hat. I found the elf hat in a thrift store – threw it in the wash and slapped it on my head and completed the look. If you can’t find an elf hat or don’t want to spend money on Amazon, of course a Santa hat will work too (always available at the dollar store and Walmart this time of year).
Now for the fun part – the shirt! This is where crafting comes in. When I bought this shirt from Michaels, I purposely sized up because elves always seem to wear dresses (but it might go up another size). So the first step is to get the bottom zigzag line and it will be as easy as you think. Cut the top and bottom triangles from one end of the shirt to the other. Once you have done this, take one of the cut out triangles and use it as a template to cut the felt for the collar. Depending on the size of your shirt, cut triangles out of white felt and attach the triangles to the collar of the shirt (only four triangles are needed). After them
