How To Make A Tree Out Of Construction Paper – Create simple and beautiful felt trees inspired by Scandinavian designs with this pattern, which is perfect for cutting with scissors or using the Cricut machine.

A few years ago I walked into World Market and fell in love with their Christmas decorations. It was a Scandinavian Christmas theme that year and I didn’t know how much I loved it until I saw the simplicity of the decorations. Something about using felt to make Christmas decorations really spoke to me and touched my heart, so to speak.

So I am happy to bring you a simple Scandinavian Christmas tree pattern that is easy to make. And cheap to do. Felt is not expensive. This makes this DIY craft a great idea to decorate your mantle or give as a gift!

I used felts in pastel and cool colors for a traditional Scandinavian design. I have made similar 3D felt pumpkins before.

However, you can use any color of felt (or patterned felt) that you like. Consider using all white and cream for a winter wonderland. Use the traditional green and red. Or use something unusual like pink and purple for the perfect winter holiday scene for tweens and tweens to decorate their rooms.

These instructions will allow you to cut felt patterns with scissors or use a Cricut machine. Both instructions are given below, although you only have to choose one method.

Cut out one tree at a time and place the pattern on a felt sheet in the desired color. Using fabric scissors, cut out the tree shape along the solid line.

Roots Of Friendship

Follow the instructions to load the rug into the Cricut cutting machine and cut the felt. When prompted, remove the carpet from the trimmer.

Place another piece of tree on top by pressing the glued edges together. Lift and fold the unglued side and apply another bead of glue to the outer edge.

In order to have space in the middle, avoid gluing the center of the tree.

Repeat with the other tree pieces. Fold each tree piece inside out and glue the inner edge to the inner edge of the neighboring tree.

I love these trees, but I couldn’t get the PDF pattern. He kept coming back to the instructions. Is there another way to get the pattern? Thank you!! When I was a kid, I *hated* science. So how did I end up as a STEM author and curriculum publisher?

In 2012, my 6-year-old daughter refused to read anything but science books. He had an insatiable desire to learn more about the world. I heard about this thing called “STEM” so I thought I’d better pursue these science, technology, engineering and math subjects.

STEM curriculum was hard to find back then, so I created STEAM activities for him and other kids in after-school clubs.

Soon, her teachers and other parents started asking to use my lesson plans themselves. I put them on the internet and I was born. 10 years later, 100,000 teachers, families, clubs and organizations have used my STEM activities and lesson plans.

“I’m a K-5 teacher. I teach in a computer lab in a STEM environment. I’m always looking for new ideas. I love the activities I find!”

“I’m a preschool teacher and I also work with elementary students. It’s so fun to watch kids of all ages fall in love with STEM with your activity ideas!” I woke up this morning thinking about trees; that’s a strange thought. you might think, but hang on! Think about it, trees make the planet green, trees are essential to the ecosystem and I live in a forest surrounded by TREES! These thoughts lead me to believe that everyone needs a tree in their life, which inspired me to write this paper tree tutorial. Well, it’s not a fancy, paper tree that you don’t have to water or wait for it to grow, and it can even have a blue trunk and rainbow leaves!

A Faithful Attempt: Wycinanki Christmas Tree Paper Cuts

Draw a tree shape on the brown paper as shown in the picture. Make sure the tree roots are horizontal so your tree stands tall. (Remember, it’s not a tree if it doesn’t stand!)

Please ask an adult to help you. (Don’t hear about the time I decided to use scissors without thinking!)

Fold the brown paper in half and cut around the tree design to end up with 2 paper trees as in the photo. (I know it looks a bit wrinkly, cutting is tricky…)

Fold the paper trees in half and stick them as shown. Your paper tree should be standing, if not you need to stand again. I’m kidding! Ask an adult to cut the roots of the tree with scissors so that it is standing.

Next, ask an adult to cut a strip of green paper (make sure this paper is lighter than the brown paper or your tree will fall!) and draw a leaf shape like in the picture.

To cut many leaves at once, fold the green paper several times as shown and cut out the leaf shape until you have a stack of leaves.

Now the sticky part! Start by gluing the leaves to the paper tree trunk. For a more natural look, you can curl them a little in the middle. Keep going until you’re happy with the look the leaves add and you’re done! Congratulations on your first paper tree, now 100 more to create a forest! Ha-Ha!

Gentlemen! you don’t have to stop here, why not create a whole forest of paper trees with different colored leaves and display them on a windowsill or shelf! And don’t forget to follow this blog for more papercraft tutorials coming soon.

Backing up a bit…need to bring 2 dozen cookies for the upcoming Scout Cookie Swap. Trevor asked if we could bring Oreos. I told her no, it wouldn’t be in the spirit of the cookie exchange to bring a package of Oreos, but if we were doing something with them, sure. We did some brainstorming and I remembered seeing this ad for Ritz Crackers in a past issue of Food Network Magazine. (This is an affiliate link, just like the other links in this post).

Wouldn’t it be nice to dip the dough in green Candy Melts (and one in chocolate on the stem), arrange it like a tree, and then add little M&M’s to the Christmas lights? Yes, that would be awesome! How funny!

Fortunately, I thought to check how much space it would take to display a Christmas tree made of 24 Oreos. I pulled out my circle punch and green construction paper and started punching. I tried different ways of arranging the 2 dozen circles, but the tree looked very strange unless I only used 22 circles. Not only that, but the tree was bigger than I expected.

We ditched the Oreo Christmas tree idea and are going to do something else creative with our Oreos. I will share it soon. Never one to pass up a craft opportunity, I glued a piece of blue construction paper to a white sheet of paper and then glued on 15 green punched circles (it works better than 5 rows.
