I use eggshells in different ways. I would mix the husk into the planting soil and add it to the roses (and other plants too!), But the easiest way. The only insects I deal with, and mostly only roses, are aphids. For many years, the only effective remedy for me was to wash away the aphids as soon as I saw any signs. I start watering my roses only in the deep part of summer when it is not raining and the temperature is Above 100 degrees.
