To draw an anime or manga style face, start by sketching the basic shape of the head. Draw a circle, then make a vertical guide in the middle. Draw a horizontal line about a third of the way down the circle to mark the level where the eye will turn. Next, draw another horizontal line near the bottom of the circle to mark the position of the nose. Measure the distance between the eye line and the nose line, then measure the same distance down the nose line and draw a third horizontal line for the chin. Next, sketch the jaw. The chin line should extend from the widest part of the circle to the middle of the line made for the chin on each side. If you are portraying a child or a woman, make the jawline curved and your chin pointed. For mature male characters, create a more angular chin and a wider chin. Finally, draw a line down either side of the chin to show the height. If you have the following face shape, start adding facial features. First, sketch the ear between the eye line and the nose.
