Ever since Marceline wrote about kawaii drawing books, I’ve been wanting to try them out. Well, when the Dutch edition of ‘Kawaii! How to Draw Really Beautiful Stuff’ appeared in my local bookstore, and I just had to buy it. I want to share my thoughts on this beautiful book from Angela Nguyen (AKA pikarar) with you.
How To Draw Cute Stuff Book
The book contains approximately 128 pages with tips and examples. It starts with basic tips, followed by chapters on how to draw kawaii people, animals and various things.

The chapter on kawaii people starts by showing how to draw poses, expressions and clothes. I think these pages provide great ideas. It follows “how to draw” steps on various characters, such as a kawaii astronaut, a farmer and a witch.
In Angela’s book, he shows in 2-3 steps how to draw something. That’s enough to get me started. If you have some experience in drawing, I think you don’t need any more steps. Because this book format can provide almost 200 drawing projects in total! So there are only a handful of characters to choose from.
Most of the images are simple (which is the true kawaii style) that you can use as doodles. I am thinking of recreating the pictures in my bullet journal.
Every last step gives you feedback on shading and colors. I like to use pictures and colors as a guide. You don’t have to copy Angela’s pictures exactly and you can throw in some ideas of your own.

This is doubly frustrating because I didn’t do July at all, but 2020 is frustrating, so here we are. I’ll post a couple today, and tomorrow I plan to be caught up and back on track for a day. I drew but I didn’t color them, but they lost their color, so I went back and started coloring them, and now they look good, except my marks tend to grow sometimes so I may have left them but ENOUGH EXPLANATION. ! HERE IS GOOD FOOD! I didn’t expect this book to be a huge shock, because how can food be beautiful, really? What I didn’t expect was that these wouldn’t be food paintings, but food as animals! to save space and not give away the nguyen yard, I will post everything that I drew from each part of her, but only ONE of her drawings, which will be the one I drew the worst. HOT DOGS apologizes for the crappy painting, crappy coloring, harsh lighting, photography and interesting photo editing, i.e. to use new photos and improvements. Here’s her version of the one I made wurst (heh): that’s why she teaches people how to draw and marinate in self-loathing. TORTILLA CHIPS I draw these on computer paper because I’m not artistic enough to justify buying fancy paper, so when I scratch I tend to crumple up the paper and make it worse. However, Angela Nguyen deserves the best newspaper in the country. STEAMED BUNS I think I’m right about this one, but hers, well: leaps and bounds… CHOWDER I’m a total loser when it comes to “shape” and “vision” and “depth.” this bowl is bad, while the “relaxing in the pool” hole is good. I might go back and edit the pictures
