Below is a step by step tutorial for beginners to draw rose flower illustration. It’s very easy to do with simple shapes and curved lines. Follow the instructions below to create your own beautiful rose.
How To Draw A Flower
To start your rose, you will need paper and a pencil. I also recommend grabbing fine tip markers for finishing. These are my favorite markers for drawing and coloring.
I always start my projects by using softer pencil marks to sketch, then trace them with a marker or colored pencil. It just ensures that I can correct any errors with the eraser instead of starting from scratch. If you know you’re better at drawing with a marker or pen, go for it!

Start by drawing three small circles, each slightly larger than the last. Then draw the first inner petal with the pointer tip. It only takes two rounded or curved lines around three circles joined at the top in a V shape.

This will be the center of the rose. They don’t have to be a perfect circle, they can even be oval if needed. You just need to use these three circles as the center point.
Next, you’ll draw a larger petal that sticks out from the inner part of the rose petal. To do this, create a digital heart shape that comes to a certain point. Then put it back in the three small circles you created earlier.
I like to connect mine to the smaller circle from the previous step so that everything runs smoothly. This will be your first set of petals.
This step will allow you to be a little creative. You will create four layers for your rose. They will still serve as the inner petals of the rose, but you give your flower body.

Just add curved lines to the left and right sides of the rose. Then add a small outer petal with some ridges. You will also create a half circle shape on the underside of the flower.
You will now draw the outer petals. Place five rounded, wide petals around your inner petals. I love making these different shapes because the roses are never exactly the same.
Add one or two petals that come to a point and others that are completely smooth. It’s yours. I believe the variety of rose petals makes the rose drawing more realistic.
This is one of the easiest steps. All you have to do is draw lines that represent the creases and shadows you see on a real rose. I added a line or two to each petal.

Now is the time to add the rose stem. It is also an easy step. Simply draw a long, slightly curved line downwards, give it a blunt bottom, then bring it back to the base of the flower. Yes that’s it. Just a few vertical lines for the stem.
Using a small triangle shape and a teardrop shape, draw your page. Point it a little so your flower doesn’t look droopy.
Draw a line down the center of the page, for a long distance. Then add a few smaller lines branching outward to act as veins.
