This Easter Bunny directed painting is adorable and cute and perfect for Easter lessons and celebrations. Easter holidays are always an exciting time for children. What better way to de-energize kids than by offering this activity?

This Easter bunny drawing can be adapted for any elementary school classroom and can be completed at home with a few simple materials. You will need white construction paper, a pencil, an eraser, a thin black marker or Sharpie pen, and watercolor paint. A good art paper is recommended, as it can hold water and paint, and the paper will not tear if used properly.

As you teach this art lesson to your class, I recommend standing front and center and using a large easel and chart paper to draw on. Students can sit at their desks with supplies. I take things slowly, laying out each step and giving instructions one at a time. I give my students plenty of time to follow up and ask questions. If you model your lessons this way and take your time, you will be most successful.

I usually complete the activities in two days or two periods. On the first day, complete the sketch and trace with a black marker. 2 paints a day. If your class has never used watercolors before, you should show them how to use a paintbrush to create beautiful brush strokes and the ratio of water to paint. I usually use large paintbrushes instead of the small ones usually included in watercolor paint sets.

Use watercolor paints to paint the details of the rabbit first. Start in the center and work your way out. Also added two pink blushes. Don’t forget to leave the body of the Easter Bunny white.

Paint the background behind the Easter bunny a bright color such as yellow, purple, pink, or any other spring color. These colors will make your Easter Bunny pop off the page and look great on display!

Once everyone has completed their Easter Bunny drawings, place them somewhere to dry completely. Do not hang or stand unintentionally. Paint and water drip on the snowman. Once dry, we recommend hanging them up or creating a fun bulletin board display for Easter.
