Groundhog Day Worksheets Kindergarten – On Chicken Day, February 2nd, the world sees Puxatawny Phil come out of his hole to predict our weather. If he sees his shadow, there will be six weeks of winter. If not, spring is just around the corner.

Groundhog Day Activity

I made a fifth grade printable for school. In a 20-page printable pack, you’ll find the following items to keep your kids entertained:

• Jump puzzles – Print the puzzles on cardstock and laminate for durability. Cut out the puzzles and ask the children to put them back together in numerical order.

• Give it a stamp – Children will roll two dice and add dots. Then, they find the connection number on the paper and mark the dots.

• Coloring pages – There are nine coloring pages in this pack. Each one has cute pictures for kids to color and a sentence for kids to follow.

Preschool Outstanding Groundhog Day Activity Sheets Holidays …

One of the best (and easiest) ways to incorporate Groundhog Day into your curriculum is with a Groundhog Day read aloud.

Here are some of my favorite Groundhog Day read alouds that you can add to your pre- and post-holiday reading lists. I hope you don’t have too many books to read aloud!

If there’s one thing I know about teaching kindergarten, it’s that the schedule is always full. There are many skills to learn and ideas to express. It can be difficult to fit interesting activities and topics into an already busy schedule.

However, one of the best ways to do this is to use a math and literacy center, like the Groundhog Day center, so you can have all the goodness in the world!

Letter G Groundhog Craft

Students can practice the math and reading skills you’re already working on this month while celebrating all the fun that comes with Groundhog Day.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy DIY Groundhog Day project, this shadow craft is perfect! In addition, it is good practice to follow instructions.

To play, the teacher moves without speaking. Students should focus on the teacher and imitate his movements. This is like the Groundhog Day version of “Simon Says.”

You can change it by saying “Groundhog Says” before you go anywhere. This game is great for mat time, a brain break, or a quick game to fill time.

Groundhog Day brings many opportunities to practice writing skills in early kindergarten with Groundhog Day themed writing stations.

This site is a great way to learn new vocabulary words and use them like bee, shadow, undercover, spring, winter, and more.

They can also try writing down thoughts and activities that allow students to share if they would like Groundhog to see his shadow and why.

Groundhog Day Videos For Kids

Have a class discussion to discuss possible outcomes and predictions. Discuss what would happen if the boar could not see his shadow or not. You can also tie this in by talking about the seasons.

Ask the students to write a prediction sentence on a piece of paper or on the white board.

It’s not Chicken Day until you can predict whether or not you think the Groundhog will see his shadow. Predictions and data collection are one of the activities of Groundhog Day!
