Grinch Stole Christmas Party Decorations – A special place in my heart during the Christmas season. Not only have I read The Grinch as long ago as I can remember, but the book is a reminder that I think we all need one.
Because life seems to be a little crazy. The Grinch reminds us that Christmas doesn’t come from the store, but from the moments you create and share with your friends and family.

I found inspiration in Dr. Seuss’ original red and white illustrations. Then I used a green Grinch flash to create an accent.
The trick to making it look interesting and attractive, but not flashy, is to keep it simple. The main decorative elements are:
While not necessary for decoration, these finishes added a more authentic feel to the room, like we were in a Who-ville house.
Who-ville Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the Who Roast Beast. In the book, the illustration of the Grinch clearing the ice bin hints at a pig-like creature. However, to make our job easier, we drew inspiration from the live-action movie featuring Jim Carrey.
Grinch Party Ideas
We took a turkey and used metal skewers to pin extra chicken thighs on each side, creating a six-legged beast, before placing it in the oven. Note: If you can find a smaller metal skewer to clip the leg into, it’ll be better than ours!
If you’re going to create your own version, I recommend using the same meat when raising your beast, e.g. poultry, or beef or pork, not a mix. Cooking times may vary for different meats, poultry and pork must be cooked thoroughly to make sure no one gets sick.
We used the free Who Hash label I created a few years ago to decorate the bookshelf. The actual Who Hash bowl is already on the table (recipe is very successful! – you can find my version here.)
Who Hash and Who Roast Beast are made from scratch, so store-bought puddings are used to maintain sanity! Food coloring was added to turn the vanilla into a bright red for Christmas.

Grinch color dishes. Short time? Green food coloring turns any kind of party into a Grinch-themed buffet. Madi made Grinch krispie, green cheddar and blue frosted cupcakes. For cakes (since our party was actually birthdays), we bought a Grinch themed cake to complete our dessert menu. Search for Grinch food or Grinch cake on Google for tons of ideas!
Drinks. There are some great cocktail and punch Grinch recipes available online – just do a Google search to find them. For us, I bought sangria in these vintage polka dot bottles to match the fun color scheme [Spanish brand, you get
Her outfit is a pink nightgown that we found at the op store. For the photos, we completed her look with an oversized piece of Kmart jewelry.
While not as great as Madi and Cindy Lou Who, I drew inspiration from Martha May Whovier in the live action movie and put together a quick outfit. Taking an oversized Santa suit, I cut the top down the front to create a Santa coat. Wearing a white dress, I layer a white flared skirt on top, then another layer of crinoline – a thick nylon mesh – to make the dress really stand out. To turn crinoline into a skirt in a few minutes, I bent metal store-bought wire to create the waist, then twisted the ends together. Anything works! For the belt, I finished off with a Santa belt from the Santa costume.
How To: Grinchmas Who Ville Candelabra
To style my hair, I attached a wig clip to the ponytail for height, then attached part of my hair.
There will be some people who want to go all out and make those oval Who-ville bodies. For a quick fit, flared skirts allow the fabric to be pulled away from the body, creating an oval body shape.
With your house looking as good as a Who-ville home, your menu ready to serve and the banished host of Who, your party is ready!
