Every year we write a creative Christmas letter with a photo to let our family and friends know what’s going on in our lives. Here are some ideas to help make your Christmas letters stand out.
My mom is a very creative woman and every Christmas growing up she would send us a Christmas card that included a picture of us on our Christmas card. I have continued the tradition because I think I like to complicate life. . . . I really enjoy it. I’d love to think of a clever/enriching/fun way to share what’s going on in our lives.
Write a letter to Santa and ask him what he can do to help your families throughout the year. For example, “Dear Santa, Maren will love her new violin this year; she wears her dress and practices all her performances!”
Really. I know it sounds funny, but that’s part of the fun of writing Christmas letters. Haiku (if you don’t remember from school) has 5 syllables, then 7 syllables, then 5 syllables. It’s fun to write. For example:

One year into college, my mom called me and told me that I was in charge of creating new Christmas carol lyrics for her Christmas letter that year. Each child had to do it himself. Actually, my younger brother, John, missed out on doing things and my mom did it just for him, because that’s what happens when you’re the baby of the family.
