Free Patterns For Finger Puppets – Introduction: I was born in the UK a few years ago, moved to California in 1980 and moved to New York in 1993 to become an American citizen. My favorite place to visit is Lake Winnipesokey in New Hampshire outside of London, UK.
A quick and easy kids project to knit and sew a finger puppet. It’s very simple. Even adults can do it! My nephew in England asked for a finger puppet to come up with a basic pattern. The Garter and Stockinette Stitch is also moderately well done, and very pretty! This would be a great opportunity to teach your kids that knitting and sewing are fun!

Once upon a time, there were 3mm knitting needles, several colors of yarn, a darning needle, and dental floss. And I had a curious child who wanted to have fun while learning new things at the same time!

I’m sure I’m not alone in leaving a thread on a big project that’s too small to do anything. (By the way, most of my yarn is Vanna’s Choice from Lion Brand) The perfect way to use these rare materials is to knit a finger doll. With a little imagination, you can create an entire scene.
Choose a light colored yarn and start at the bottom edge and sew two rows of 16 stitches and a garter stitch. Start on the knitting line and continue stocking stitch and knit 10 rows.
Cut the first strand and tie it with pink or brown or whatever color you like in your hair. 6 rows of stockinet stitches.
Break the face color and join the hair color. If you like green or purple hair instead of yellow or brown, go for it!

Take a darning needle and pass the cut thread through the 8 gauge needle and tie it tightly.
Sew the small body with the saddle on the outside. Start with the hair and work down. Be careful with the complementary colors of your needles. You can use the end of the cut thread to change the color.
Carefully decorate two small eyes and a beautiful mouth with a needle and dental floss. For this, use a color that contrasts with the color of your face.
For a small scarf, sew 35 stitches of a different yarn. Do not weave a thread and throw it away immediately.

Attach the scarf around your little friend’s neck and hold them together with a dancing needle where the scarf overlaps.
You can embroider lazy daisies on the puppet’s body. You can sew a French knot to add a button to the front. You can braid three strands of hair color and attach them to the hairline near your face. Look, a girl doll. You can add small ribbons or sew a piece of lace or ribbon.
I’m sure you and/or your child will have a lot of fun making these little puppets and maybe put on a puppet show or two! Welcome to Sugar, Spice & Glitter! This post may contain affiliate links. See Full Disclosure for details.

Finger puppets are one of the cheapest and most popular toys in my preschool system. A combination of incredibly realistic Folkmanis finger puppets and cute crochet dolls like this one.
Finger play is our favorite way to use our finger puppets. For example, songs like “Five Little Ducks”, where children use their fingers to represent the ducks in the song, count them and bounce them “over the hills.” They are also perfect for enhancing story time or traditional nursery rhymes. The front yard crochet doll is perfect for “Old MacDonald!”

Finger puppets are great for counting or thinking games and are perfect for people with small fingers, allowing them to go from finger puppets to animation. (Amazing for superhero puppets.)

Today I will show you how to make a monster finger puppet. These are some of my favorite little projects. They are quick and easy to put together and they are so cute. And I like that the project can have the added bonus of being a practical toy for boys to play with.
In various colors. Or, if you want to make really fun monsters, buy textured faux leather instead. Solid fabrics are difficult to work with, but the texture gives the monster a little personality.
Cut your pieces. There are a few pieces, such as eyes, mouths, etc., that are too small to fit into the pattern template. Cut as you like to fit the monster.

For the green beast, I sewed some circles to give it some texture. You can also use fabric paint for this part.
The blue bird was looking for a new monster… Most of them looked like an angry bird (below).
Starting at the bottom of the monster’s body, sew each feather and bend it as it moves to look like a feather. Do your best until the end.
Thread some embroidery floss through the thread using the needle between the cardboard and the wrapped thread.

Glue each piece of fluff one at a time. It’s very easy to start at the bottom of the monster’s body and work your way up. (As you can see I didn’t do it the easy way!)
And there is. A collection of monster finger animations! As with robots, this is a great project to customize and get creative with how you want your monster to look. Before we had children, my husband and I loved watching movies at the theater. Now that we have two young children, our movie watching habits have changed quite a bit over the past few years.
We still love going to the cinema and sometimes go to the theater twice when our parents visit (free babysitter, of course!). But for the most part, we enjoy home movie nights with our kids and build DVD and Blu-ray movie collections.
One of the family films we’ve all been looking forward to is the DVD release of SING. (SING came out on March 21st, 2017, and we already got a copy for this week’s movie night!)
The kids love spending time here, so we made some simple finger puppets and held our own singing contest! (Goofy
