Ho Ho Ho! Thanksgiving has passed and that means we are in full swing at Christmas! Santa is coming soon, which means our elf on the shelf is coming. Our naughty little elf on the shelf will be appearing this week, so I sent him a short reply letter.

Yeah, I know I don’t have kids, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with the elf on the shelf, right? I’m glad you agree! Every year I help my sister with her elf at the reply letter rack, and every year she ends up being out of this world for Christmas! This year I wanted to change things up!
You know how most kids are, every year they have a new obsession. Last year my nieces were in love with Descendants and while I didn’t write a Descendants-themed elf in the back on the shelf card, I probably should have.
I’m sure you’ve noticed the influx of Harry Potter this year, well it’s 8 p.m.
Anniversary and my nieces are in love! Their birthdays were earlier this month and I bought them paired with Harry Potter pajamas, especially Gryffindor. They were so excited that they screamed and immediately put them on. My oldest niece, Lili, loves having the leprechaun on the reply letter rack, so I always try to outdo myself every year. I thought they liked Harry Potter with them and their favorite home was Gryffindor, why not do a Harry Potter theme?

The elf on the shelf is a cute elf that will hopefully help her son not only believe in Santa Claus a little more, but also teach him how to be good boys and girls. Basically, if you want your kid to be on the good guys list instead of the bad guys, maybe listen to the goblin on the shelf.
How it works You must take your elf out every Black Friday morning (or whenever you get the chance, before Christmas of course) and sit somewhere with an elf on the card rack (or one you create), the first lyrics always explain how it is. and why is it there.
The goblin is there to keep his son in check. His assigned elf is there to spy on his son and report to Santa every night about his behavior. Since his elf comes home every night while his son is sleeping, he must make sure that he hides in a new place that his sons can find in the morning.
Some rules of the elves, don’t let your children touch the elf or he will lose the magic of it. This also means don’t let the kids catch you moving the goblin or your child won’t believe in the goblin. They shouldn’t be there all year, make sure you have a goodbye letter ready by December 26 to explain that it’s time for your elf to help Santa prepare for the upcoming Christmas (farewell letter coming soon).
