Easy Fabric Flowers – Flowers have many uses in the art world. I use them to decorate pillows, make jewelry, and even put on a little headband for my beautiful daughter. I use them for a lot of things and since spring has officially started, I thought I would post a tutorial for bed flowers today.
The magic number I’ve found that works best is five (pretend it’s only five in the image below…haha!). Cut the five flower petals into the desired size. Remember that there will be five petals, so the bigger the petals, the better the flower will be. If you choose a heavy egg, you can cut all five petals at the same time. As the fabric is lighter, the flowers fade, although they look more.

My favorite thing is turning old pieces of fabric into flowers. Because flowers can be added to anything – shirts, bags, belts, gift wraps, wreaths, headbands, etc.
So, if any of you have the same problem of keeping a small piece of fabric…..here is a way to reduce the collection a bit.

How To Make Fabric Flowers In 8 Easy Steps
Compared to lampshades, stove-tops, etc., all kinds of DIY flowers you’ve ever wanted will help you make them quickly.

For today’s tutorial, I created an easy to follow, printable pattern template! It comes in two different sizes that give the size of your flower bed and stack well. Fill out the simple form below to get this template right away!
Once your template is cut out, it’s time to cut out your patterns. For the fabric flower, cut 5 large circles and 4 small circles so you have a total of 9 fabric circles.
How To Make Easy Fabric Yoyo Flowers
Use your scissors to cut pieces in the center of your circle from about 1 inch to 1/2″ around your circle shape. These will be the petals of your flower. If you want larger petals, cut pieces these 1″ apart / for thin petals, cut the pieces closer.
From here, break out your new light bulb and turn it on. I love how easy this thing is to use and let my kids work with it (with lots of supervision!).
Carefully check the outline of your fabric cycle so that it cleans the edges of your fabric properly. Because the fabric is made of synthetic fibers, the edges are joined together and begin to pull up, creating a petal-like effect. Don’t worry about each petal layer. The more “dirty” they look, the dirtier and better they look when you’re done!
Next, take a small egg circle and fold it in half. Place the folded fabric over your half flower and sew it in place. After folding the other 3 layers in half continue to push them and tie your belt below. Small patterns and added folds create lots of texture and size in your finished quilt flower.

Once all nine levels are saved, you’re done and ready to use your new flower however you want. This winter I used them to decorate my Christmas tree and it was amazing. It seems like every time I find a new use for them and couldn’t be happier to have a good little product. Haha!

I love making these different types of flowers. But I found that I prefer to use 2.5 inch fabric to make this gathered fabric flower. This type of flower is very beautiful and suitable for any use.
However, depending on your needs, you can make a small flower by starting with a large flower using a small cloth or cloth. It depends on you.

I think these flowers are perfect for 8yrs+, but you might want to try them on younger and more adventurous kids – my daughter is almost 6 and dying to go. Fabric flowers are also great for using as a finishing touch or repurposing some old shirts or rugs. beautiful
