Easy Cartoon Character To Draw – Whether they are from outer space or beyond the grave, young, old or eternal, knowing how to draw cartoon characters is always important if you want to become a professional artist. Unlike animals, characters are more difficult to draw when they have odd postures or body parts like hands.
In this series, you will find a wide list of characters that include a good variety of subjects such as ordinary people, creatures, monsters, fictional characters or people who just work hard. Some classes are a bit more difficult while others are pretty basic.
Easy Cartoon Character To Draw
Some of these tutorials were created many years ago (when this site was created), while others are more recent. This is why you may feel that some lessons are very different from each other.
Draw Cartoon Characters Is Easy
This is a great example of a simple lesson that you can try to get a little practice. Snowmen are very easy to achieve because all you have to do is draw a few basic circles (three in the case of the tutorial below) and then add all the necessary accessories to achieve the desired character.
These accessories are very easy to implement. The hat is made of a strange rectangle while the arms are made of broken lines. Three dots are added to the chest to form the buttons. A scarf made of three small rectangles is added under the head. Facial features are also represented by basic elements.
Now that we’ve created a very simple character, let’s try something a little more complex. At first, it might seem easy to describe this cartoon boy. However, some areas can be difficult to draw. Fortunately, the legs are only represented by a large rectangle. The head and body are also made of basic shapes.
However, adding hair to create a good haircut can be frustrating at times. Hands are also harder to draw. Once you create the hand shape on the front, adding the fingers to the back will be a breeze. You can try the video lesson or the written tutorial below. More video lessons are available on my Youtube channel.
Easy Cartoon Characters To Draw For Beginners
For this third example of how to draw cartoon characters, why not try to create an amazing and adorable dinosaur? These terrible and aggressive creatures once ruled the land. Let’s go now! In this lesson, you can work with a large cartoon dinosaur from a side view as the animal walks. Don’t worry! This pose is not as difficult to draw as it seems.
In fact, the fourth step (the one with the legs made of rectangles) goes a long way in showing how easily this position can be achieved. You can even go a step further and add shadows, lights and textures if you want!
Portraying a fictional character as a wizard is also rewarding. This lesson offers some challenges for beginners. First, the head is more complex and the facial features are more difficult to draw. Sketching out accurate proportions can be a bit more difficult. Fortunately, both hands are relatively easy to create.
Fictional cartoon characters are a joy to draw because you can usually cheat a little. Since these imaginary creatures do not exist in real life, you can add accessories or play with different shapes more freely.
Funny Cartoon Characters Drawings
Drawing a woman is also different from drawing a man. Some body parts are different (such as the chest) while others are not drawn using the same proportions (such as the shoulders, waist, and hips). For the tutorial below, you are invited to draw two beautiful young women using mostly circles, short rectangles and curved lines.
The posture and facial expression of each character is also different from what we have seen so far. Unlike the previous boy who was drawn with a perfect circle to represent the head, the girls have pointed chins.
Sometimes you have to draw mostly rectangles, squares and triangles to have cute cartoon characters. This is certainly the case if you need to create a cool cartoon robot. The version seen below is similar to most vintage robots seen in movies from the 50’s and 60’s. Small textures are added inside the arms and legs as shown below.
The last step is also important if you want to apply some basic effects to the illustration. In fact, some highlights and reflections can be seen near the character’s head.

Let’s finish this part of the tutorial by drawing an awesome pirate made of mostly simple elements. As you can see below, the head, body and legs are made of small circles and squares. Even the skull found in the hat is quite easy to create. The most challenging part is probably… the hands (again!).
We’re not done yet! If you want to discover more cartoon characters and learn how to create additional fictional creatures, you can use the list below. Most of the drawings are done using the same tips, the same techniques and the same style of characters that we have drawn so far.
The first set below consists of simple cartoon illustrations filled with fun drawings, tips and facts (just to make things more interesting!).
The second set of tutorials consists of simple step-by-step lessons. In most cases, each step is discussed to give you an inside look at how to achieve your description.

There are two types of drawing classes in this section. First, some tutorials contain not only the drawing lesson itself, but also some sketches of different characters and some tips on important features to add. You can also enjoy some fun facts to learn more about each character.
Other drawing lessons are only done with simple steps discussed. These tutorials are usually newer, but not necessarily newer/more interesting and/or better than the old ones. They are just different. It is up to you to choose between both formats and see which one you prefer.
Yes, but you can find simpler drawing lessons if you want. Simply select any lesson in the “Beginners” section of the navigation menu on your left. These tutorials are perfect if you have little or no drawing experience. You can still try some cartoon characters in this section, but some of them may be more difficult to make.
Again, you can, but these lessons are designed to be drawn with a pencil. You can find tutorials optimized for vector applications in the “Vector Tutorials” section in the navigation menu on your left.

Take your time and practice. Feel free to draw a particular character more than once. It’s hard to succeed on the first try, but you should get good results if you draw the character two or three times.
If you feel stuck and can’t go any further, choose a new character. You can always do the original lesson later. Drawing is all about practice and dedication.
Another good tip is to start your drawings with a pencil that doesn’t create dark lines. The basic shapes created at the beginning of the lesson are often erased very quickly. If these shapes are difficult to remove, your illustration may be difficult to read.
You can also use ink once the drawing is done, but this step is optional for now. Your main goal should be to draw cartoon characters as perfectly as possible.
