Does anyone know how to make your round photos? This might be a stupid question, but I cut them short, and I can’t figure out what to change! Thank you! If you’ve ever read a Disney Planning book (or been around this site long enough), you know that Disney vacation planning is the bread and butter of travel planning.

An itinerary will be your home base – it outlines your plan for the entire trip. All the attractions and experiences you want to visit, dining plans and reservations, and FastPass+ appointments. Families without a tour plan are the ones who walk through the Great Hall of the Magic Kingdom, grab a map and take a peek.

Without an itinerary, you can do everything you want to do on a trip to Walt Disney World.

This Disney World Touring Plan Spreadsheet will help you plan your day and help you make sure you schedule your meals and Fastpasses.

I like to start with my party “must do” list. I use the Walt Disney World Top 10 Printable to see their wish list at a glance.

Then I consult expert planners like Easy WDW’s Cheat Sheets, TouringPlans.com, and Undercover Tourists Touring Plans. This tour planner will give you a general idea of what you can fit into a day and how much time each season should take. They are great models to help you avoid long lines and nothing at the park.

Professional tour planners are a good place to start, but sometimes there are rides and shows we prefer to skip. I adjusted these plans using my Walt Disney World Touring Plan Spreadsheet to create a plan that would work well for our family.

Planning a Disney World vacation can be overwhelming! There is so much to think about and do before the big day arrives. In this series, I’ll help you through that process. Let’s get started on how to start planning your Disney World vacation!

Walt Disney World Daily Planners

When you start planning your Disney World vacation the first thing you need to do is decide where to go! I know it seems obvious, but it’s a big decision. You may have all these questions about travel like money, time, money, where to stay, money, tickets, money! Do you see a pattern here? I understand all the problems and have been there (many times!).

However, the first thing, and I believe the easiest thing, is to just decide to go! We’ll talk about money and time and all that later. Just decide to go, and then you can figure it all out. Take a big breath and watch “We’re going to Disney World!” You will be the hero of the family and everyone will be happy! You can join them all in planning a trip.

So the first step in planning your Disney World vacation is deciding to go! Take a deep breath, and make a choice.

There, see. It is not very difficult. Now let someone get the seasoning salt for you, so we can move on to step 2.

How To Start Planning Your Disney World Vacation In Five Steps!

It is easier said than done. You should consider travel, hotels, meals, parking, Genie Plus (if you decide to use it), and all the extras you want (gifts, experiences, etc.).

It can all be very simple. Let’s start easy, and prepare for a trip to Disney World. how will you go fly? Driving? the train? bus? You may be a fly person (I know I am), but growing up, my family moved (from Indianapolis). I think it is important to determine what the price will be, because no matter what, it will not change (unless the price increases or depends on the market).

Then get to where you are. You don’t have to decide the exact location, but are you staying at a deluxe resort, a mid-range resort, or a grand resort? I also want to consider that you should know how you will use your hotel. Is it just a place to sleep? Do you want to sleep in a resort? Do you want to be pampered a little? You can spend anywhere from $100 per night to $800 per night. You may also consider homelessness. There are some really great options right off Disney World property.

Then you should consider park tickets. You need to decide how many days you want to visit the park (and make a park reservation). You can get game tickets anywhere from one day to ten days. On top of that, you have to decide if you want to visit more than one park in a day (called park hopping). You can also add it to your ticket. (If you don’t add a stop now, you can add it when you get there.) You can add the ability to go to a Disney water park to your ticket. So you can see that there are many financial considerations when it comes to tickets.
