Michigan’s primary highways connect its major cities and facilitate transportation between Michigan and its neighbors. I-69 runs through southeastern Michigan, between the Ontario border and the Indiana border. I-75 crosses eastern Michigan from north to south, while I-94 crosses southern Michigan from east to west. I-96 connects the cities of Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids.
Michigan’s Interstate auxiliary highways serve the state’s major metropolitan areas. I-194 connects Battle Creek to I-94. I-196 connects I-96 in Grand Rapids with I-94 near Benton Harbor. I-275 connects I-75 to the western suburbs of Detroit. I-375 is a short drive that gives easy access to downtown Detroit. I-475 provides easy access to downtown Flint from I-75 and I-69. I-496 connects downtown Lansing to I-96. I-675 connects downtown Saginaw to I-75. I-696 serves the northern suburbs of Detroit.
