Despicable Me Pumpkin – Kids have always loved the Despicable Me movies, and the Minions’ antics kept them guessing throughout all three movies. The guys even made me download the game “Minion Rush” on my tablet so that I can play whenever I want. (Don’t say it, since older people can be a bit embarrassed to reveal their secret, you know, since they’re supposed to be too old for cartoons and all) They’re legit when it comes to talking, Dave, and teenagers can still do it. All I do is pick up and play with the fart gun (remember the four tenets of our families? No judgment please).

So when my little one asked me to help him make a “punkin'” Minion for Halloween, I couldn’t say no. He didn’t even cross my mind. But after I automatically said yes, I had that “oh shit” moment all moms occasionally have when thinking about a commitment they’ve made where they’ve bitten off more than they know they can chew. I can fake it out most of the time, but even on my best day my pumpkin carving skills don’t come close to the standard of precision required for any of the jigs and stencils I make.

To paint. So we thought we’d carve on the sidewalk and paint a minion in the shape of a pumpkin. And it was adorable. But not as adorable as our youngest son’s face when he first saw our finished pumpkin.
