The Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet is a special moment for our Cub Scouts, and we want to make it as special as possible for them!

I love my Boy Scouts. However, I tend to let my husband do the scouting duties! However, one day I volunteered to plan my Cub Scouts Blue and Gold banquet…. (I always manage to get into these things).

Finally it was a success!! I am very happy with the results and I want to share what we are doing if you volunteer for this madness.

1) We changed the tablecloth – blue/”gold” – and changed the color of the plates. Instant color and vivid contrast.

2) The theme for our blue and gold party was Boy Scout Camp, so we asked the scouts to start a “fire” out of rocks, tissue paper, and tea lights, all taped to old CDs.

Luckily, we had a blue back wall, so we glued a bunch of blue and gold balloons into a rectangle shape.

One of them is lumberjack merchandise and we use props other than birthday signs. It had a compass, lantern, tree, and other camping props that fit the theme of camping with the Boy Scouts.

We have a call to action and parents and families are raising the issue. I filled it with blue and gold paper filler that I got from the Dollar Tree.

Then I printed Boy Scout signs, stuck them on wooden skewers and placed them in the jar.

I’ve been away for the past 10 days and as soon as I got back into town I had to start working on 10 centerpieces for my son’s Cub Scouts blue and gold banquet centerpieces. Here’s what I thought.

Show & Tell: Creative Cub Scout Cakes

I collect craft items and have been hoarding coffee cans for the past year. I finally discovered the benefits of this and decided to repurpose the jars into centerpieces by covering them with paper.

The Cub Scout crest is a Fleur-di-lis and I didn’t actually think I had a Fleur-di-lis haircut, but I did a search on my gypsy and it turns out I should go with a 6! I love all the hidden secrets of Cricut cartridges! I chose to use the 3.75″ Fleur-di-lis die cut from Sweethearts along with the base shadow. If you don’t have a die-cutting machine, a hand-held Fleur-di-Lis die-cut will work just as well.

Okay, I’ll give you a little tip if you want to restore your coffee cans. The coffee can is 12 1/2 inches in diameter and my paper strip is 12 inches, so I had to work around the 1/2 inch that was missing. I glued additional pieces of Fleur-di-lis embossed cardstock to cover the paper. To make the jar look more like Outdoor Person, I tied it with burlap twine.

The ribbon and rose cartridges come in a fleur-de-lis shape, but since I needed 20 and didn’t have time to go into detail, I just made these roses by hand. They are 3″ and 4″ wide.

In the center of the rosette, I stamped some circles with the flower lily crest and printed some boy scout graphics. The boys love Rosette and, like the boys, begin to pretend that the stake is a sword. I wish I made enough so that each boy could take home one, maybe next year.

This is what centerpieces look like on a banquet table, tied with balloons inside. Last weekend we had a blue and gold banquet for the Cub Scouts. We were in a very small town, so we invited our Boy Scout troop. We passed three guys and two got their Eagle Scout honors! For such a small town, I am very impressed with our Boy Scouts. It helps that we also have great leaders.

I was on the committee for this year’s Blue and Gold. Because I’m crafty, I’m in charge of the centerpieces. Last year we made chocolate lollipops. They were a huge success, but unfortunately we just don’t have enough time to do it this year. I found footprints and a lily for jars. You can download the paw print SVG at the end of the post.

We used a pint jar and covered it with blue tissue paper. We tied blue and gold ribbon around the top and fluffed and cut tissue paper to make it fluffy. We made this last year and I’m happy to share that the tissue paper keeps very well. We just need to get some of them back. It saved us a lot of time this year.

How To Plan A Blue And Gold Banquet

I cut the 3″ toothed circles from the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. I cut two for each jar as we attached them to the skewer legs. I also cut out two 2 inch footprints for each can that I used to cut out my Silhouette Cameo. You can download the free paw print SVG file at the end of the post. I ran the paw print through my Xyron and attached it to the scalloped hoop. I then cut three sets of fleur de lis for each jar, which also came from the Accent Essentials cartridge.

I used masking tape to go all the way around the scalloped circle, leaving room for the skewer sticks.

For the fleur de lis, I used a ribbon runner on the three bolder sections and the middle.
