Create Your Own Survey Template – Reading time: 14 minutes.
There are so many ways to create online forms, it can be overwhelming to choose the best one for your needs. Arguably the most powerful is one you already have free access to – it’s available in Google Drive.
Create Your Own Survey Template
Drive is an integral part of every Google account, and is known as a cloud storage service and its Google Office suite. One of the lesser-known features is Google Forms, a form-building tool that’s as simple or as complex as you need it to be. Whether you’re collecting email addresses, running snap polls on your website, or building in-depth customer service surveys or questionnaires, forms are the perfect tool to use.
Training Survey Questions To Help Obtain Valuable Feedback
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to get started with Google Forms. We will cover an example of how to create a Google Forms survey. I will explain the different types of questions you can create, how you can vary the questions depending on the responses the user gives, and finally how you can access and analyze the data you receive. I will also provide a short screencast on how to use the survey template. Let’s begin
Watch this screencast to learn how to quickly customize a Google Forms survey template so you can start creating and sending your own surveys through Google Docs:
Or, explore the detailed step-by-step process below on how to create a new survey from scratch using Google Docs Forms.
Let’s start creating our Google Docs survey. First, in your web browser, go to drive.google.com and sign in to your Google account if you haven’t already done so. Click New > More > Google Forms in the upper left corner of the screen.
Integrate Ambassador With Surveymonkey & Net Promoter Score
Click the arrow to the right of the Google Forms option to choose between opening a blank form or creating a form from a template.
Click on Blank Form to create a survey from a blank form. Or, click From Template to create a survey from a template. If you find a template you like, click on it to open the template.
However, the default theme is suitably neutral if you plan to embed your survey on your website. To access it, select the blank option from the template gallery or select the blank form option from the drop-down menu.
You are now on the main form page. You will see two tabs at the top of the form. One tab is titled Questions, the other is titled Answers.
Creating Surveys & Announcements
For the purposes of this example, I’ll show you how to change the feedback settings. Click the center tab, Presentation, to display the options there.
If your form will be two or more pages long, display a progress bar to show the respondent how long it will take to complete the survey by checking the box labeled…
You can define other survey settings according to your needs using the Settings screen for the Questions or Answers tab.
The Google Form survey is divided into sections, but of course you’ll only have one section to start with. The title of the form and its description are at the top – click on them to type your own text.
Use Google Forms And Gmass To Send Surveys And Follow Up Emails That Maximize Responses
A multiple-choice question is set by default, but there are nine different types of input you can request by clicking the down arrow next to Default and bringing up the drop-down menu.
In this section, we examine seven types of Google Form survey questions you can define. The question type drop-down menu appears below.
This type of question requests very short text input from the user, such as their name or email address.
) in the lower right corner of the question. Tick Data Validation. Choose text from the drop-down menu for the first blank and the second for the email address. In the custom error text simply type “Please enter a valid email address”.
The Ultimate Guide To Running A Customer Feedback Program
Make the question a required question by sliding the toggle button to the right next to the word “required” in the lower right corner. A red asterisk appears next to a question in the survey to indicate that it is required.
This type of question requests a longer response, such as for a general comment or response. Here is an example of a paragraph question.
After you select a question type from the drop-down menu on the right, type a question on the left.
A Google Forms multiple choice question type provides a list of answers, and the user can select only one. Add your first answer to the label option 1, then click on the text for the next option to add a second answer and so on. You can click Add “Other” to add a blank at the end of the list. User can add your own answer choice.
How To Use Custom Pulse Surveys To Enhance Employee Experience
To remove a multiple-choice option from a question, click the X to the right of the option.
This is another multiple choice list, only this time the user can select more than one answer. As with a multiple-choice question, type your list of answers and use other options if necessary.
You can specify a minimum, maximum or exact number of answers using the Data Validation option found in the drop-down menu of the more icon in the lower right corner of the question.
This is a multiple-choice style question presented as a drop-down list. The user can only choose one answer, and cannot add their own choices. This is good for absolutes like age ranges rather than opinion based questions.
Survey Templates: Free Questionnaire & Examples
You can add an Add All option, although it doesn’t make sense for either/or type questions. For privacy, you can add a better not to say option, allowing the survey takers to opt out of the question.
A linear scale asks the respondent to rank items on a scale of one to five, by default. You can extend the scale up to ten and you can choose to start the scale at zero instead of one. You should provide labels for the lowest and highest scores on the scale for guidance. An example question might be “How satisfied are you with the service you received?”. A score of 1 would be labeled “Very Dissatisfied” and 5 would be “Very Satisfied”.
The linear scale option lends itself to multiple questions, but you can only add one at a time. Quickly create multiple questions by clicking on the duplicate button at the bottom of the question (it looks like two sheets of paper), and rewrite the question title on the copy.
A multi-choice grid allows the user to select pre-defined options for more than one choice. This can be good if you want the user to review a list of items with the same options.
Survey Questions That Work: How To Unlock Your Customers’ Deepest Desires
Use the More drop-down menu below the question to limit the user to one choice for each column.
After you’ve written each question, click the Add Question icon (+) in the lower left corner to add it. Then start another question by selecting a question type from the list.
The Add section icon (=) in the lower right corner allows you to add a new section (section header). It helps you organize a long survey. At the very least, it’s a good idea to group personal information questions into their own “About You” section.
Segment breaks are also useful for building more dynamic surveys that display different questions based on the user’s answers.
Guide To Survey Launch: Question Design
Here’s an example: You do a technology survey and ask people about their smartphone and tablet usage. You can divide the questions into three sections to make it as relevant as possible.
Section 1 contains the multiple-choice question “Do you have a smartphone?”. Option 1 is yes; Option 2 is.
From the More drop-down menu at the bottom right of the question, select Go to section based on answer options. For option 1, select Continue to next section. For option 2, select Go to Section 3 (About You).
In this example, if someone answered yes to the question in section 1 it leads them to the smartphone questions in section 2, which leads to section 3.
Manage Engage Surveys
If they answer no in section 1, it will skip the smartphone questions and go straight to questions about you in section 3.
This method ensures that your survey is relevant to the participant, and helps maintain the integrity of the data you receive in the process.
Reorder your questions and sections by hovering your mouse over them and dragging them into place. Click Preview in the More drop-down menu at the top of the screen to test the shape at any time.
When you are satisfied that everything is working, edit the confirmation message that the user will see when they complete the survey. You can access the confirmation message from the More menu at the top of the screen. Thank the user for participating and click Save.
