Construction Paper Fire

Construction Paper Fire – Do your kids love fireworks? Do they want to be firefighters or are they really into camping? A day of pretend play with fake fire flames for kids to keep your kids busy with creativity and imagination. Let them play firemen by building a small city out of blocks or even a giant city out of cardboard boxes. Add some construction paper flames and they can run to the rescue with their very own fire extinguisher.

Children’s days should not be filled with TV and electronics, they need time to think, play and figure out how to solve problems, children always have very funny ideas. Keeping them busy with a fake campfire and pretend marshmallows can be a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon making memories. You can even let them snack on real graham crackers while you play. If you want a 3D flame, that’s fine, or if you have a lot of tissue paper, you can easily make tissue paper flames with a pattern.

Cardboard tubes can be used as logs in the fire. So start collecting rolls of old paper towels or toilet paper for your trunks for this time or the next time, because I guarantee your kids will have a lot of fun! All you have to do is draw in some tree marks with a brown marker or you can paint the tree lines with black paint. If you want big logs, take some pool noodles and cover them with brown paper. The paper will give the logs a rough rustic look.

Start by letting the kids choose their own flame colors or even different shades of the same color. Astrobrights paper is decided by whether you use regular construction paper found in most stores or a better effect, brighter paper. It’s as thick as construction paper and a bit more expensive, but it definitely has that wow factor from afar compared to some boring construction paper. That said, I made the flames with regular old construction paper and they turned out great!

If you’re making construction paper fire for a party, event, or pretend play date, make sure you have enough time to finish. Count or find how many flames you’ll need and collect your supplies. You will need scissors, construction paper or Astrobrite paper, Elmer’s glue, a pencil, the flame template, and glue dots to hang the flames once they are finished.

It can also be used as a fire pit for extra summer fun. Some kids will want to use this template, while others might like to make their own fake fire flame shapes. It will depend on whether you have young children or older children. Your older kids can make flames as a target for Nerf guns. The good news is that you found a way to spark a little creativity and make your own fire pit.

Choose your craft supplies. All the following steps are almost the same. You will print out your fire flame pattern (print on card stock for durability) cut out the flames, place each flame on top of your chosen color of construction paper or take your red construction paper and trace around the flame with a pencil.

If the flame is small enough, you can trace each large flame more than once on each piece of paper. I cut 2 flames on the red paper.

After tracing your flames, you will need to cut each flame. Small children will need help with this part, so stay close. It may be hard work for them, but they will be very proud once they put out the flames. Leftover construction paper can be used for another project later or perhaps as a hearth for an actual campfire. I usually put mine in a plastic bag and put it on top of my construction paper box.

Next, we will create the medium orange flame and the small yellow flames. Trace around the middle flame and cut them out and do the same with your small flame. Make sure you have enough red, orange and yellow flames cut before riding.

Elmer’s glue is what I used to attach the flames. A hot glue gun can be used, but for this little fake campfire, we’ll just use school glue or stick glue. A little touch between each flame will help keep them going. Set them aside once glued to dry before hanging with glue dots.

Glue dots are the easiest to use because it is easy to remove from surfaces and the small flame will stick well until it is removed. Your little campers will love it too. You can also tell some not-so-scary ghost stories around a small home.

For best results, take glue dots and test the surface beforehand. I’ve never had a problem with them, but that doesn’t mean you won’t.

Depending on the size of the glue dot, you may need to use one or more stitches to hold the flame. If you want to take the construction paper flames to the next level by making it look more like a real fire, try adding a small fan or some battery powered orange lights, tea lights will work too. If you want an even more realistic look, dim the lights and add a fog machine. You may or may not have done that in the past. I intend to take the simulation game to a whole new level!

The three different colors make the fake flames appear, but you can choose the colors you like. Coffee filter flames would be a great alternative to construction paper and tissue paper flames are super easy to make, especially with a pattern. I always seem to have orange tissue paper on hand, so orange flames are a weekly occurrence in my house and are safer than real. Fake flames keep me from a real fire drill at home. HA HA! But it’s good to have a fire plan, so keep it in mind.

I hope your kids love their cute fire pit and if you want more easy ways to keep your kids busy check out this DIY fire station that even has a fire hydrant and also the fireman coloring sheets with a sheet coloring a fire truck Yesterday I shared a list of books about camping. I explain that this is one of my favorite summer activities, so I thought it would be fun to share camping books and crafts for our summer learning series.

This campfire craft is super easy and my kids had so much fun making it. I don’t know what tissue paper is, but when we do a craft with it, my kids go crazy. Maybe it’s the texture of the paper or that it comes in lots of pretty colors. Whatever the reason is that’s fine because I like tissue paper too. Make cute crafts!

My kids are excited to go camping with their cousins in a few weeks and this craft was a fun way to get ready for camping and get them even more excited. This craft was really easy and you don’t need a lot of materials to make it. I cut the tissue paper into triangles, but you can cut it any way you like.

Paint two large popsicle sticks brown and let dry. When they are dry glue them in an X shape to a piece of black construction paper so they look like wood on fire. Glue the tissue paper triangles onto the popsicle sticks to look like fire.
