5. Take your scissors and create a scalloped edge on the top of the filter. Depending on how your petals look, you can make a shorter or deeper ridge.

8. Take some floral wire and cut it to 12 inches, double it if you want the wire to be stronger. Use the pencil to wrap the end of the wire around the coil several times, then press the coil together after sliding off the pencil. This will give you a center point of your flower that will not pass through the filters.

9. Thread the floral wire through the center of the first petal of the coffee filter, I used a small dot of hot glue on a spool of floral wire to attach the filter to it and screw the bottom of the filter. You can use regular tacky glue or hot glue. I repeated this step until all my filters were on the wire, gluing every second filter and the last filter.

10. Cut a long strip of floral tape about 12 – 16 inches long and gently stretch it after removing it from the roll – this activates its adhesive.

11. Starting at the bottom of the wire coffee filter, place a dot of glue and attach the end of the floral tape. Wrap and twist the floral ribbon around the end of the floral wire to create a stem. I wrapped it all up and then rolled it up again to make it a little tighter.

12. I want colored peonies, but you can leave them white. If you decide to color them, you will only need food coloring. Mix a bowl full of water and color the water with food coloring to the desired color. You can test this by submerging another filter and see how it goes. All that was needed was to partially submerge the peonies one by one. Quickly peel it off and place it on a baking sheet to dry.

They are great for many occasions – ornaments, party decorations and gift toppers. The best part is that they don’t die and you can change the colors as often as you want. When I walk into a room and see bright colors, it really makes me happy. You are here: Home / About / Best PPP / Coffee Filter Flowers Are Perfect for Spring (Try This DIY Craft!)

First, you need to coat the coffee filters. You should have about 6 pieces of filter or tissue paper for each flower.

Then add a few drops of food coloring to a cup of water. You will want to soak the filters for about 5 minutes or longer if you like.

Finally, add hot glue to the tip of the flower to create the petals. Do this for each layer, squeezing and fluffing the coffee filters or tissue paper as you go.
