One of my little boys favorite books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It is in high demand throughout our academic year. This year I decided to add more preschool themes and activities to our school day, so we will definitely be trying some of these Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activities. In fact, we will have a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom themed week at the beginning of our school year!

If you’ve been around the blog for long, you know that I follow a system for preparing preschool curriculums. I use the same system in my kindergartens. I choose a topic and make a lesson plan based on it. These activities will be used in my lesson plans. Let’s pick some fun chicka chicka boom boom activities!
The Cozy Red Cottage: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom And Beach Theme
First, let’s get the book, shall we? Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a staple in our homeschool cupboard!
The first thing I did was scour the internet for fun chicka chicka boom boom printable activities. Here are my top three activities!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Font Rating – This letterpress comes in both uppercase and lowercase. Call out the letter, letter or sound and the child uses the dot marker to highlight the correct letter.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Name Craft – This free printable is super cute and a great way for kids to learn their names!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Paper Towel Tube Tree – Okay, it’s a mouthful, but what preschooler doesn’t love using old paper towel tubes? Make a super cute chica chica boom tree with these instructions.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Paper Plate Craft – Make a cute paper plate tree and use fun foam letters to decorate it!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Handprint Craft β This handprint craft is so cute, your child can even write their name on it!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Sensory Bin β If you are looking for a pre-made sensory bin, this one is absolutely adorable!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Abc Learning Board
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Sensory Bottle – If you need something a little more sensory, this sensory bottle will do the trick!
My favorite science activity for this book is to pull out a real coconut and let the kids explore it with their five senses. How does it feel, taste, smell, look, sound? You can also let them guess whether it will sink or float.
I hope some of these Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activities are helpful as you plan your Chicka Chicka Boom Boom curriculum! This post contains affiliate links. This means that if you use my link, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As always, thanks for your support.
Last week we started our homeschool preschool year with a great Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book and a beach theme. I like to start with this book as an introduction or review (depending on age) of the alphabet. It helps me see what my kids know and what we need to work on.

I will try to share our lesson plan with you each week. I’ll be honest, I seem to go over schedule, sometimes inspiration comes in the middle of a lesson, so we don’t always follow it exactly. Now I’m trying to figure out what’s best for us. I also have the cutest kid who thinks sleep isn’t a priority, so we’re working on her mindset too:) This week’s lesson plan actually took us over two weeks – because of said cute baby. One of the great things about teaching my kids homework is that we can go at our own pace and it’s not a big deal. You can use our schedule as a basic overview or choose what works for you π I am including my schedule and a blank lesson plan.
(I can’t figure out how to get rid of the second page – use it as extra space for notes or skip printing π
I created some fun learning games and worksheets for this week’s topic. You can download them for free below. Here’s what’s included.
Beach Number Hunt: Print out the number cards and the I Spy page. Laminate if possible. Cut out the cards and hide them around the room. Let your kids find them, then find them on the “I Spy” page. Get over them. You can use the cards for other games, for example, put them in numerical order or print two pages of cards and use them as a match.
Chica Chica Boom Boom In Arabic!
Coconut Shake – This is where the idea of ββthis game comes from. Hers is beautiful, but made of note paper. I decided to recreate the game digitally so it would be easier to print.
Here’s how to play: Print out board games (one per person) and a letter page. There are also many “chicca chica boom boom” circles. Cut circles for letter and CCBB and place in a bag. Draw one of the circles alternately. If it is a letter – say the name. If it is in the right place on your tree. If it’s not right, put it back in the bag. Shake all the letters off your tree if you get “Uncle Uncle Boom.” We put them to the side, not back in the bag. It was so much fun that we played multiple times. I also keep it to use throughout the school year for practice.
Tree File Folder Monkey Game-A fun way to practice Anotehr colors. Print 2 pages of trees. Glue or laminate to the inside of the folder. Cut out and laminate the monkeys. You can add Velcro or magnets. Match the color of the monkey coconut tree with the same colored leafy tree.
Chicka Treasure Hunt β I found a treasure hunt idea in this post (what great ideas!). It was made for a school setting, so I changed some of the words to fit a “home” preschool and made some cute cards for our treasure hunt. I hid a little treat in our ccbb book.

Coconut Wood Craft: This is a simple craft that teaches cutting and gluing skills. I cut the main parts. I cut them into small strips on the edges of the leaves. And then they glued everything. Then use the letter stickers to “climb the coconut”.
Decorate your letter – Print your letter from here. We went with their initials. Use paint, crayons, paper, glue, feathers, etc.
Rocking crab-idea from here. We kept it simple by using paper for the clothes, legs and eyes. I love how the stone looks! Such a fun and beautiful activity.
Puffy Paint Starfish – Idea from here. We went with her suggestion and added a little more shaving cream. We also used glitter instead of pasta.

Build a sandcastle: We used this kenetic sand. It doesn’t come with a lot of sand, but it was enough for both of my kids and they loved the toys that came with it. I will be adding this bag to our collection, it is perfect if you want a lot of sand. We have used similar products and it is really mess free and very easy to clean.
Riddles – I drew the alphabet and beaches and everything. I was lucky enough to own some cute Melissa and Doug finds at the dollar store recently.
We were playing a round of roses, but he changed the words. We would sing part of the ABC’s and then call out Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. They will fall on the last jump. (We did A-G, H-P, K-Z) It was a big hit.
Practice the rhythm – slap (slap the knee), slap, clap, clap or slap, clap, slap, clap. Accelerates and determines speed. We said Uncle Uncle Boom Boom.

Also the Counting Coconuts book from Mother’s Hubbard – found here (for the math section below). Coconut is made with our fingerprints
Beach Party – Complete the theme with a party. We read books and watched Mona on the beach towel. We decorated alphabet sugar cookies (recipes and cookie cutters), played beach ball, and Simon says on the beach (eg: Simon says walk like a crab, move slowly like a turtle, look for a wave, etc.). We went to the beach!
Dragon on the Beach – Play Don’t Eat Pete: While reading this wonderful book, I remembered our fun dragon game Don’t Eat Pete. It was for Pete’s Dragon, but it works. You can find it here. My kids love this game.
