As a long-time catechist and more recently as a pre- and confirmation teacher, I know all too well what it’s like to write a letter and not know what to say. Actually, I usually write letters to each of my students, so I had to come up with 20 letters (one for each teenager in my class). I spent panicky nights with excruciating pain in my fingers and racking my brain for inspiration to say something.
For this reason, I have compiled quotes and scriptures to refer to when writing such letters. Some of these quotes come from the Catechism of the Catholic Church; some from the scriptures. If you know the endorser’s name, praying to that saint is another great addition to a personal letter. And I always pray to the Holy Spirit before I start.
