For example, as you can see in step 1 below, this sketch starts with the head and collar shape located on the center line of the paper. It is important to have a nice and large head outline so that there is enough space for the eyes to be blurred and the ears to droop.
When students start drawing well, they feel accomplished only when they finish. Drawing skills determine the size of the lines and how they are placed on the paper. Some visual references to begin with will help anyone learn a little more clearly.
So, does this mean students should get out the ruler to draw a big line down the middle of the paper before they start? No, any finished art will be difficult to remove and scratch. Instead, they simply cut a piece of paper in two directions, creating a crease and opening. The beauty is that when the pattern is made and painted, the wrinkles disappear.

In this tutorial I will use an inked version of the dog I drew. So, don’t panic if you can’t mimic these lines! At the end of this tutorial, I’ll show you a pencil version of the dog to give you a better understanding of how you should be.
Start by drawing a round shape for the head. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Basic shapes like circles, squares, and triangles just make it easier to draw the shape of your character.

Attention When drawing, try to keep the lines as light as possible. When it comes to correcting mistakes, it’s easy to erase light lines and leave less clutter. Heavy lines take more effort to erase and leave a mess. You don’t want that.
Now draw a vertical and a horizontal line down the middle of the head. These lines act as guides when placing the eyes and nose on the head.
Draw a long oval on either side of the head. Start from the inside of the head so that the dog’s ears slightly overlap the face.
Using the guide, place the eyes, nose and mouth on the head. Draw details such as eyebrows, nose and mouth to complete the head. You can also draw a few lines above the nose to indicate the mouth.
How To Draw A Chihuahua (with Pictures)
Your dog’s body is slightly different from his head. Instead of a circle, draw a shape that looks like a bean or potato.
Draw a large oval in the lower corner of the body for the hind legs. Draw a long, thin oval on the front leg, less than an inch from the back leg.
Draw two long curved lines starting at the lowest point on the back of the body. Connect two points to one point to complete the tail.
Congratulations! Now that the head and body are done, it’s time to finish it off with a few other small details.

Go back to the dog’s head and give it a larger shape. It’s perfectly fine to leave it round. However, the idea is to make the character interesting.
Here’s the actual “cleaned up” pencil sketch I did. Your drawing should look like this (except for the stain: paint them however you want!)
