Backyard Half Court Basketball Cost – Many couples are buying their first home or starting a family. When planning ahead for your children and their life experiences, sports courts have been a necessity for many families as a safe place to play a variety of sports. It is also a place where you can spend quality time with your family as a place to create precious memories that will last a lifetime. There are many variables in the overall cost of building a backyard sports court®. The size, site preparation and composition of the court (“bells and whistles”) will have the greatest impact on the overall investment. We build backyard courts of all sizes, from small basketball courts for hooping in a small backyard or side yard to larger half courts and full courts when space allows. Bocce ball courts require relatively little space, putting greens vary in size, and tennis courts require significant space. Either way, we’ll work with you to find the coat that best fits your family, landscape and overall budget.
To better understand what you’re getting into when you buy and install a backyard patio, let’s break the project down into five main components.

Each coat is unique. The access is always different, the grades and lower slopes are different, and there may be a few objects along the way. We will come out to grade the area properly and achieve the correct slope and compaction in the lower grades of the court. Our representatives use lasers to take specific height photos of your yard, then work directly with our engineering staff to create a construction plan for your project.
If the building has a large slope, site preparation costs may have the greatest impact on the overall investment of the project. Large grading projects require significant soil and dirt movement, compaction, larger equipment, retaining walls, off-holes, drainage, and more. For this reason, no two coats will cost exactly the same, even if they are the same size.
Access restrictions also increase project costs. The small 3′ gate makes it difficult for 5′ and 6′ Bobcat track loaders to access the space to handle site preparation. From time to time we have the opportunity to temporarily dismantle part of your fence or a neighbour’s fence to gain access to the area. If the work has to be done by hand, labor costs increase due to the long timescale of site preparation. At the end of the day, there is always a crane (albeit expensive) that can pick up the machine and place it in the backyard.
Base materials relate to the aggregate material placed under the base and the normal sports base itself. Aggregate data is very simple. Bedrock/aggregate thickness has a lot to do with soil type and engineer’s soil report.
Backyard Basketball & Sports Courts
Many courts are built on 4″-5″ thick reinforced concrete slabs using 3500 PSI concrete. Concrete is always a reliable foundation for patios due to its durability, strength properties and low maintenance. Asphalt oxidizes as soon as it is laid. Anything that oxidizes over time becomes brittle, so asphalt can easily shift on the ground and eventually crack endlessly, which means maintenance, patching, erratic ball bounce and pounding hangover
If you are looking for a less permanent base due to impervious coverage limitations or area limitations, a portable modular base may be the perfect solution. SportBase is a popular product that produces to help with these situations. SportBase is completely permeable, so water can seep through. It is a very green alternative to concrete and does not require concrete trucks, pumps or large equipment. SportBase is also safer than concrete, has 2-3 times more shock absorption and has the highest head impact rating, preventing injuries and falls.
Regardless of the base material you choose, AllSport America can provide general specifications and quotes for your coat. Of course, the price will vary depending on the foundation you choose. Soil type, drainage, city ordinances, access and environmental regulations should be considered when choosing the best foundation for your court.
